[RELz] GATES TO AESGAARD 2 (NEW!)

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2011 2:34 am

Latest news:

Everything comes into an end and so is "Gates to Aesgaard" quest series.
I know that some people were waiting for "episode 3" and I'm sorry for that, but unfortunately there won't be any ep3 coming out any time soon.
My team and I left Oblivion and "modding" 3 months ago.
Reason? Several... the main reason though is that we want to move forward with game developing....

Now.. there are some good news too.

Two months ago we made a step forward. We are now officially working on our own game. A complete new game from scratch.
The game is based on a new horror fiction story Maigrets and I are currently developing. The story takes place in the end of the year 1918. The gameplay could be described as single player "action adventure" with shooter elements but I'd say that it'll be something more than just that.
Unfortunately I can't post more info about this new project in public yet.
The game is gon'a be developed on a stand alone version of the "unreal Engine 3", recently released for indie developers.
That means that it will NOT require any other game to play. It will be a complete new game as I've already mentioned.

At this point, I'd like to personally thanks all those people who supported GTAesgaard.
The best of luck everyone and keep modding!!!!! :0)

-John Emmanuel K. (ThePriest909).

Many thanks to wrinklyninja for the latest updates. Both patches were created by him.
Gates To Aesgaard Episodes 1 and 2 New Patches
New patches have been uploaded for GTA Ep. 1 & 2, bringing them to v1.2 and v1.1 respectively. The patches fix a bug present in both mods which breaks scripted weather, including that of Oblivion Gates and weather mods.
The patches can be found on the Nexus pages for the two mods. With regards to Episode 1, be sure to patch it to v1.1 before patching it to 1.2.
If you have a Gates To Aesgaard (1 or 2) Weather Patch installed, you can remove it after installing the patch, as it is no longer required.

================================================================================
02. Recommendations by the authour
================================================================================

01. Read the instructions carefully before installing or playing this plugin.

02. It is recommended that you don't use "Night eye Effects". The only result it can cause is to spoil the experience you would have without it.

03. It is recommended that you don't use console cheat codes. They will probably break the quest-line and cause failure to complete it.

04. Although Gates to Aesgaard 2 has been succesfully tested with a variety of other mods, it is recommended that you don't use unofficial plugins that modify already existed items.

05. Gates to Aesgaard - ep.2 has been created on vanilla oblivion for vanilla oblivion and only official plugins are recommended. If you do use other unofficial plugins, please make sure that they are compatible with Gates to Aesgaard 2 before installing or playing the game.

06. It is recommended that you don't use texture or mesh replacements. This project has been created with respect to the quality balance of vanilla Oblivion. If you do use texture or mesh replacements you may notice unbalanced results in quality.

07. It is recommended that you don't use companion mods to any other world space besides Carhenia. They will spoil the experience you would have without them. If you do, please make sure that your companion mod is marked as "essential" and that it supports summoning.

08. It is recommended that you don't use unofficial lighting or weather mods. They will either cause bugs or spoil the experience you would have without them.

09. It is recommended that you don't use overpowered weapons, armors, spells or code-made characters. They will spoil the experience you would have without them.

10. It is recommended that you don't deactivate the border region or the autosave function by modifying the ini text.

11. Depending on your character's level, game's difficulty might change. Use game's difficulty level control to set the required difficulty.

12. The first-person camera mode is recommended for the maximum experiance of this quest.

================================================================================
03. Requirements
================================================================================

01. The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion
02. Oblivion 1.2.0416 Patch
03. 1,2GB of free hard-disk space

================================================================================
04. Installation
================================================================================

General rule:
Before installing any unofficial plug-in, backup your save-games.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

To install Gates to Aesgaard - ep.2:

-Step 01. Run GTAEPII.exe to auto-extract the required data into your oblivion data folder.

-Step 02. Open the Oblivion Launcher and select Data Files.

-Step 03. Tick both GTAesgaard_2.esm (Master File) and GTAesgaard_2.esp (Player File).

-Step 04. Play.

To uninstall Gates to Aesgaard - ep.2:
Click the start menu and use the "Unistall_GTAEPII.exe" located at the "Gates to Aesgaard 2" folder.

Note: The installer contains one (1) esm file, one (1) esp file, one (1) bsa archive and three (3) bink video files. There will be no manual installation version, so please, do not ask for it.

================================================================================
05. Load-Order
================================================================================

Landscape issues may appear in game if another esm that alters the landscape affects GTAesgaard_2.esm or vice versa.
Solution: Use Timeslip's Oblivion Mod Manager (http://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm.html) to change the load order and set GTAesgaard_2.esm right after Oblivion.esm

The load order should look like this:

Load-Order:
--------------
Oblivion.esm

GTAesgaard_2.esm
*
All other ESMs

All other ESPs
*
GTAesgaard.esp

================================================================================
06. Known bugs/issues to understand
================================================================================

01. Landscape issues may appear in game if another esm that alters the landscape affects GTAesgaard_2esm or vice versa.
Solution: Check the load order section for more info.

02. Because of an unknown (and very rare) bug, the second part of the dialog between Claudius Otillus and the player might fail to start correctly. (It happened only twice during the final beta testing so, don't worry about it).
Solution: Save your game after exiting the "Engine of Creation". If the dialog fail to start just reload and play again.

================================================================================
07. Compatibillity
================================================================================

01. Other mods that contain esm files that alter the landscape may conflict with Gates to Aesgaard-ep2. Check the load-order section for more info.

02. Gates to Aesgaard-ep2 is not compatible with weather modifications that use scripts to set the weather instead of the normal region editor (such as Natural Environments
or Enchanced Weather). They will either cause bugs, performance issues and crashes or spoil the experience you would have without them.
Their authours should update their scripts with conditions that prevent the weather changes from happening to other world spaces besides Tamriel.

03. Gates to Aesgaard-ep2 is not compatible with any mod that alters the landscape at any of the following cells.
Tamriel 6, 39
Tamriel 5, 39
Tamriel 5, 38
Tamriel 6, 38
Tamriel 7, 38
Tamriel 7, 39
Tamriel 6, 40
Tamriel 7, 40
Tamriel 37,-14

04. Gates to Aesgaard-ep2 might not be compatible with mods that change the way the original loading doors work.

NOTE: Gates to Aesgaard 2 has been succesfully tested with a variaty of other mods. Some of them are:
Beth's official DLCs, FCOM, OOO, OWC, MMM, Deadly Reflex 5, Unofficial oblivion patch, several body replacers, beatiful people, and many more.
With the right load-order, Gates to Aesgaard 2 should be compatible with almost everything.

Hi S.D.

Please read the Description and the read-me file.
Downloads are currendly available only by the mirror sites. The file is too large for TESNexus.
I'll propably work on a different version (multiple data installer) for TesNexus.

Splitting the download file in smaller portions of 100 MB would be highly appreciated by me.
FileFront is not giving me a fast internet connection and it would take 5 ours at 35KB/s.

I'll try to create a new "multiple data installer" version for low speed connections. I just need a few days to rest.

Wow! That is one of the best written read mes. Writing one of those can be a huge challenge. I will get around to trying this series...some day. I need to try to get through the huge assortment of mods I already have.

That looks like really fantastic work.

I'm interested to see weather mods listed as potentially bug causing. Could you give me any details you have on this? Then I could attempt to patch such bugs as there are for All Natural and Enhanced Weather.

Great to see this out, I enjoyed the first one, and look forward to this.

Hi wrinklyninja! Happy new year! :)
I noticed the same bug happening both with Natural Enviroments and Enchanced weather... I used the normal region weather editor to create specific enviroments both for exterior and Interior cells. Both Mods seems to interfere and change my original weather... That's a huge spoiler for the game... I tried to lock the weather by using the script editor and still both mods caused strange issues... Like switching from one weather to another, serious frame-rate issues and crashes. While testing Natural Enviroments I also noticed that the mod also ruined the default weather inside the oblivion gates... I haven't checked enchanced weather on this one. If there's any solution available I would be more than glad to update the read-me and post links to possible patches or updates. :)

Really liked the first episode and am looking forward to playing this. However after following your readme's and all other advice the quest won't start for me. It's in the load order you suggest, I'm out in the country away from any city or interior. I've killed 3 or 4 days and nothing. Any suggestions. Numbrs

Congrats on this huge undertaking!
Great stuff.

I found my TES4Files had a problem with this mod, there's a record that's empty,
a size zero creature record. I fixed TES4Files to tolerate this.

Having fixed TES4Files, I used it to see what kind of missing file errors
and bloat the mod has....

26 missing files.
249MB bloat.

Now part of the bloat is the LOD files but this is not a large percentage.

Again, great effort :D

Well let's see what we can do. :)

1. Make sure that both esp and esm files are ticked at the data files tab.
2. If it still doesn't work, make sure it is not a conflict by testing the file with the rest of your mods deactivated.
3. Make sure that the official patch 1.2 is installed (properly).
4. Try a different load order.... (depending on your mod-list).
5. If it still doesn't work please reinstall (and if it still doesn't work I'll send you a console command...... but in any case that's the last solution).

Don't forget that although G.T.Aesgaard 2 has been succesfully tested with several other mods, the project was created on vanilla oblivion, for vanilla oblivion...

Congrats on this huge undertaking!
