Gauss Sniper Rifle - Hit detection bug?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:41 am

Hey guys,

what exactly is up with the Gauss Sniper Rifle? Is this thing buggy with a lot of shots not registering or is it me? I would say I'm not bad with the DSG Sniper Rifle, but the Gauss is giving me headaches. It seems to me that 40% of all shots don't seem to register at all. Especially if something is anywhere near my target, like a wall or something.

If I use this thing like the DSG I totally fail with it. I think I read that it was bugged on release so I wonder if there is some kind of special trick on how to use this or if it is me being a supernoob or of it is actually really buggy?

Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Yes. Sometimes 5 shots will visually hit a person but they do not die. Other times 1 shot will drop them. I gave up on the gauss because of this.

You guys don't realize that you have to wait longer than when you can shoot the gauss. Yeah the gauss svcks because it's rate of fire is less than the dsg1, but what's worse is that there is like 3 or 4 second delay before you can shoot the gauss accurately again. Try giving it more time before shooting another bullet/slug and you'll start hitting targets 100% accuracy when you know the time delay.

Yes it svcks bad and the only use I see with this weapon is on "Pro" modes.

3 a 4 second is allot of risk, reason to learn to be more patience before shooting.

It's not a lot of risk when you're sniping from far away... but since the delay is that long, your target can just hit cloak and run right away while you're staring at him waiting for the gauss to stop acting up.

And oh btw, crouching helps on shortening that delay.

If you're worried about them cloaking, 3-4 seconds is plenty of time to quickly switch to visor and mark them (it also helps in making people think you wallhack).

Shot a camping sniper from a distance in the head three times and it never registered, then he saw me cause the noise was so loud and killed me with one shot to the head! Very frustrating FIX THIS CRYTEK!

Also Happened to me many times. It was the FIRST shot and it wasn't registered. Its a bug, no doubt.

I hope The next patch fix this problem.

Strange that it did not make the balancing list that Crytek wanted to implement with patch 1.4.

Apparently it can't fire through foliage, what a lame bug that's why I stopped using the Gauss
