Gauss Weapon vs Mr. Sandman

Post » Thu Jan 21, 2016 5:23 am

Hi again guys. I play a stealth sniper character, having always on me 3 weapons for the different ranges, all with supressors. This allows me to make full use of the Mr. Sandman perk. Now I found a Gauss Rifle and I wonder if the extra damage the weapon provides is enough to negate the loss of the Mr. Sandman 50% damage bonus?

Cheers

Can't you put a Suppressor on the Gauss Rifle? Really high crafting requirements, though.

Yes it can be suppressed, I bought "the last minute" off Ronnie at the castle and its definitely still gets the sneak critical multipliers for silenced weapons

I don't even get that option, while crafting on the bench, so I did not think it was possible. I have max Gun Nut, Armorer and Science Perks btw, even though I have no idea if it has influence...

You can put a Suppressor on the Gauss, one of the muzzle options that looks so comically large.

Sorry to derail this a little with a question,

I Never saw much use in the sandman perk, is it really worth the points?

I mean the ninja one is great, 2.5x damage makes a big difference, and happens whenever you pop someone from stealth if you are doing it right.

But sandman only counts if the target is sleeping, which is maybe like 1 in 10 or so. And when they are sleeping, they are pretty easy to get close to and put a bullet or two in the head (or more really) before they get to their feet anyhow.

Am I missing something with that perk?

And as others have said, the gauss is silencable, but even if it wasnt, the stupid level of damage it does would make up for the loss of some extra damage. Especially if you have time to charge it up, it should one shot about anything. its about 2.5x the damage of the closest other silencable weapon, damage wise.

Mr sandman's +50% sneak damage works even if the person isn't sleeping, as long as the gun is silenced.
