Gay Marriage

Normal people don't care. People who think it is sick is homophobic. Again, thank the countless religions that force the "fact" that homosixuality is "bad" down our throats.

I think most people just naturally think homosixuality is disgusting with or without religion.

And if you're the type who thinks religion is just made up, well, it was made up by people, right? So according to your own logic, most people already thought homosixuality was wrong well before religion; afterward, religions were formed that reaffirmed the idea that "homosixuality is wrong." These religions wouldn't have survived for so long if people weren't already naturally inclined to believe that homosixuality is wrong.

I'll echo the simple thing several people have said in this thread: just because there are irrational prejudices in many societies in the real world does not mean those prejudices should be copied over to the world of TES. A few societies repeating an untruth over and over and over and over again doesn't make it a universal "value."

Most people find it offensive.

The sick ones, are the people who want to live in a world where men are constantly coming on to other men.

Psst, most gay/bisixual guys are not constantly coming on to other men.

If you're talking about the game, the amulet shows you are interested. You aren't supposed to be wearing it if you're not, so it is the player that is in fact showing interest.

Yeah, and those damned religions also tell us not to murder or steal. WTF? Those fascistic bastards. How dare they impose their morality onto me.

Let's not turn this into a religious debate. It would take us nowhere.

Also, why are there elements of racism in the Elder Scrolls games, but no elements of "homophobia." In fact, they don't even mention homosixuality in the Elder Scrolls games. It's as though they think homosixuality is as normal as heterosixuality and giant spiders. Weird.

Possibly because in TES homosixuality IS as normal as heterosixuality? Even in real life it's definitely more normal than dragons burning villages xP Seriously though, we know next to nothing about Tamriel's society's attitude to homosixuality. The lore is silent on that matter. Logic suggests it should be similar to your average medieval society - that's what breaks your immersion - but this is a video game, so things are a little different. If Bethesda decided to implement same-six marriages, they had to make all characters bi. There's no way around it. If you don't want to hear marriage proposals, just don't wear the Amulet of Mara.
Personally, I agree with ezekel: marriage in Skyrim is more of a means of survival than a romantic union.

Homosixual people are "Normal" people. Just because YOU don't like it doesn't mean it should be removed.

And YOU should stop trying to cause a flame war. And wrong.

Marriage is pretty pointless anyway..it's good for adventuring/dungeon crawling since you can get a companion that complements your own skills and abilities.. For example if you're great at sneak, speech, restoration etc. you can find a companion that's strong and good with axes or two-handed swords.. But why do you have to marry them?

I don't think the issue is that NPC's are gay/bisixual. The game doesn't really seem to be aware of what gender your character is. It doesn't really matter whether you play a female or male character. It doesn't affect any quests or the way any of the NPC's interact with you. The game is simply unaware of genders (except for NPC couples, which are programmed/scripted to act as a couple).

If it isnt natural why do we hear about homosixuals all they way back to the ancient Greece, why do we witness it in the animal kingdom?

It really insnt natural. The fact that animals are not gay proves that.

*cough*

SOOOOOOO off topic already.

people should read the guy's questions instead of just the thread title.

as for me, I think I gave a fairly well rounded view of my opinions on this in the 1st reply to the thread, but I'll also add that like someone mentioned: it's less coding to not have a "gender check" as they put it

Wow, these topics never go well, as can be seen from some of the comments in this one.
