Amenophis, thanks for your suggestions. I was able to determine to my satisfaction that the GCD version I have was not corrupted.
The script error and game abort I referenced earlier seems to have disappeared on its own. Annoying because I would like to have pinned down the problem and know that I fixed it. My suspicion is that there is/was some type of timing conflict with the loading of another mod and/or hardware problem, but I can't replicate the problem now, so that will have to do. And, of course, cross my fingers that it does not resume.
