GCD levelling issue - advice?

Post » Mon Oct 20, 2014 2:48 pm

When using GCD, if I start a new game and set my level to 5 (ie straight off the boat) as soon as I level up proper, I'll level to 2 instead of 6. Is there a way around this? The issue I have is that I find those early levels take so long to level up that I like to give my character a little jumpstart.

Isn't there a command to hard level up your player, rather than using setlevel?

GCD calculates your character level from your Attribute levels so if you want to gain an extra 4 levels, you need to increase your choice of Attributes by 28 points total (7 per level by default GCD settings)

That would be incredibly helpful.

Yes but you would have to level them up via levelling up skills which is way too much hassle. I frequently level up attributes to 200 when trying new mods and never level up.

Why not just use the console command to increase your attributes? Set_____ [Value] (where the attribute you want to increase goes in the blank and the value is the number you want the attribute to be).

Yeah, I saw that post, it was the one I was responding to, no sense in quoting yourself. If GCD calculates level by attributes, maybe if you increase the attributes with console command GCD will adjust your level accordingly?

As Turija says, use the console to raise attributes. GCD doesn't use character levels internally, it just tracks them to keep leveled lists working properly. It's different from vanilla. What are you trying to achieve? More health? You can adjust that in the Customize script.

Yes I know, I have directly raised attributes to level up and it doesn't work.

Hm... I've never tried to raise them in console but I do know that the character window doesn't always update the level when you open it. You must be at full health and fatigue and have no weapons or spells readied.

In any case, what are you trying to achieve by leveling up? GCD is very customizable but leveling up doesn't do anything in GCD, it's just a derivative. It doesn't give you extra health or attribute points like in vanilla.

Nothing to do with health, I've got a few creature mods running but most dont appear till later levels. I love coming across stronger enemies at low levels.

OK, I see. It's the leveled lists you want to access. You can greatly speed up leveling by changing the attribute per level in the GALS_Customize script to a low number like 3 and that will double your leveling rate. It won't affect your character directly, it will just make you higher level.
