GECK crashes the moment I try to edit a heightmap

Post » Mon Aug 23, 2010 11:27 pm

When I click or right click and move my mouse on a new or used heightmap, the GECK crashes. Also the heightmap shows as just a white screen. How do I fix this? Or is the heightmap editor just FUBAR in the NV geck?

found a bit of a workaround... make a heightmap in the F3 geck, change masters or copy worldspace, import into NV geck. seems to work fully. except it's very annoying that it's almost impossible to really change the landscape after i imported it. the landscape editor is only good for creating small elevations.

Several people have problems with the Heightmap Editor on the GeckNV, on recent computers (mine Core2duo, radeon 5850, win7 does that) : the heightmap crashes, or is whole blank.

But on older computers, with XP, old graphic card, it managed to use heightmap editor normally.

Hope it will be solved on a patch :-)

Maybe. i have core2quad Q6600, radeon 4850, win7, 4gb ram if it'll help anyone fix/pinpoint the problem.

NOTE that the heightmap in the F3 GECK works perfectly here except for rarely causing a crash.

I tried using XP compatibility mode, didn't change anything. In a XP virtual box, NV geck just crashes on startup (F3 GECK works though).
