Geck install location

Post » Tue Apr 06, 2010 4:19 pm

I just started messing around with the geck. I installed fallout 3 from steam and it seems that what it says on the site is incorrect compared to my installation. running winxp

My install of Fallout 3 is C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 and what it says on the geck websites setup page is C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3

I really didn't think anything of this, thinking that someone just didn't update the site. until I tried the layout video tutorial and what he has on there doesn't match what I have completely. I can not find the things he is talking about within that video.

I know something may be wrong with my install, but I really don't know what it could be. Both programs run fine.

any help would be great.

What specifically doesn't match completely? Install location shouldn't matter much. :gun: Steam puts it in one place, the default installer puts it in another, and the user can override that and put where ever they want. Don't know much about steam, I kicked it to the curb because my Half-Life 2 install took 9 hours.

Actually the title to the OP is kinda messed up.(gonna change if possible.) that's if the install location doesn't matter and from what you've said it doesn't. part of my OP stated I tried the first tutorial and I couldn't do it, because my geck didn't match what was on their site or their video.

I couldn't get passed the layout part, because of that.

Did you make a plugin yet?

Open GECK -> File -> Data -> tick Fallout3.esm -> OK -> Save -> MyPlugin.esp -> Close GECK. From then on: Open GECK -> tick MyPlugin.esp -> Set active -> OK.
