GECK's requirements - Is it possible to run GECK on computer

Post » Wed Mar 31, 2010 11:29 am

I have a desktop that I use to play fallout and I own a laptop that does not meet the requirements to run fallout but I would like , if possible, to make mods on it when I am away from home. So my question is, are there requirements for GECK? I guess I just could install it and try but I hope that somebody knows before I go through he lengthy procedure.

The Geck requirements are similar to Fallout 3 though a bit higher (Min 2GB of RAM for instance)

Basically, if the laptop won't run the game then it wouldn't have a chance of running the GECK.

Thanks for the answer.
To specify. RAM is not the issue, graphical card it.But that doesn't matter sadly. Oh well, At least FNedit still works.

I would say it depends on what you want to do? You can edit plenty of things without ever using the render window. Why not give it a try and see for yourself?

This.

And you might have to close the render window to avoid it svcking processor cycles anyway, but everything else other than on-the-fly rendering (which is indeed slightly less demanding than actually playing, because a little stutter isn't an absolute killer) is processor-intensive but not time-sensitive.

In other words even on my quad-core 3.2 GHz processor it takes a minute to load the BSM, but that doesn't really matter because lag doesn't make the program unusable.

If the graphics card is the only issue then yes it should still run the geck. It will just be INCREDIBLY slow is outside places, especially with navmesh on. So only edit interiors or very small worldspaces (i mean like 3 cells total) and it shouldnt be too bad. Just remember you of course need the game installed or nothing will be there. :) (some people would mess that up, trust me...)

Also press 'a' once you're in the geck to "brighten the lights". This'll make it easier on your video card.
