Geck 1.5 update fail?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 3:34 am

I have a big problem patching Geck. When i tried to patch it, it said that the old file wasnt found. Then i reinstalled Geck, and the same message appeared. THEN i moved the old exe and the patch to my fallout folder (its not in program files) and it said that it didnt find the old file, but it found a file with the same name, but it didn't patch it because the old file didnt have the ''correct'' files. HELP!

A few questions and possibilities:

1. Did you install Fallout3 formally? This is required.

2. Did you install the GECK into the same directory as Fallout3? Also required.

3. What patch-level is your Fallout3 game at, prior to patching-up the GECK? You should at least have the main game up to 1.5 before patching the GECK, though I'm not sure that this causes any problems, I'm just tossing out possibilities.

4. Did you have the GECK or Fo3 installed somewhere Else before? There is a GECK.ini file that may need tending to.

Fore more help I would need additional information, such as the Specific files it was complaining about - the exact error messages help alot.

Luck!

1. I have installed fallout
2. i have installed geck in the correct folder
3. I have the newest patch on fallout(1.7)
4. I dont think so, but i might have installed Geck in the wrong folder the first time

As to the last question, it said:

''Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match''

You should check your current versions. You could already be updated so the 'update' will not install.

Use the toolbar 'About' option.
