GECK usage w/o pc game?

Newbie to all this, so I have a question. Can you use the GECK to create mods for PS3 and XBOX360 without having the PC game installed?

First off, no you cannot make PC mods without the PC game installed. Second, it is illegal to make mods for ps3 or xbox/360, this thread will most likely be locked. Third, you cannot make mods for xbox or ps3 on the computer, without recoding it and doing a bunch of complicated stuff. Which isn't worth it, since Tarrant stated below, it breaks the ToS agreement, and therefor is illegal.

It's literally impossible to do that.

Also, people on this messageboard go nuts if you start talking about modding the PS3/XBOX version of the game, using the word "illegal" to describe it. The thread gets locked by the moderators right away. I suspect it's against your terms of service with the PS3/XBOX makers to mod the game, and that's where it gets spiraled into the "illegal" idea. Not that Microsoft can make laws, but anyway, you cannot talk about that here.

Ya, its probably more of a breach of contract than actually illeagal and opens yourself up to lawsiuts. The discussion of such on this forum is, I'll bet, not allowed by contract between MS and Bethesda.

Breach of contract IS illegal. I find so many people who don't understand that point.

The act of modifying your console can also get that console banned from the manufacturers live web-sites where most console gamers go to play games with other people on-line.

Well, considering the GECK needs to access game files in order to even load up, let alone to make mods, You're definitely going to need the PC game to run the GECK.

As for putting the mods on consoles, as well as the afformentioned legal reasons, there's another one. How would you activate the mods without a datafiles option?

Breach of contract isn't the reason it's described as illegal.

You have to hack the console to install user-made mods. That's what's illegal.

Thread closed for discussion of illegal activity.
