Gender Choices

Have you ever codded or modled, skins would look out of proportion, if I was a good game dev looking for the same high graphics experience Brink offers I would make new Player Models as Women aren't just men with curves,
I am sure in your case If you spent months working on another set of "skins", animations, and char customizations, you would want to charge an optional ten dollars.
And to quote the Brink devs were going for "a surrealistic look" not out of proportion player designs.

And in you BFBC2 example that was one uniform not http://http://www.brinkthegame.com/features/customization/ many. not to mention animations, voices, and a new single player with random female character( in order to make sp right after the DLC the whole story would have to be revamped because someone would argue about having no female protagonists). Would you as a worker want to recreate hundreds of customization options for females and then let some see them for free and use them for ten dollars. These people have jobs they don't go around making games for free.

"Not all DLC needs to make money."
I seriously doubt you thought this through

I think I explained it fairly well....

#1: First and foremost, NO, I do NOT expect to see female characters added.

#2: NO making a profit is NOT a requirement of DLC

#3: YES, making a profit is the standard goal for DLC, but not always

I would like to refer to the BFBC1 DLC now, a new mode and 8 maps, over 2 DLC, both 100% free. Why? Fans demanded classic CQ mode. so ti was released FREE as SUPPORT at a COST to DICE

I was making my post while your other one was up and as I was not physic at the time had no idea what you said,

They would have lost customers had they had not met demands and lost more money than they did making the DLC, points 2 and 3 contradict, it is impossible to make profit a requirement in itself because you can't predict the future so every business invesment/DLC is a gamble. The goal of EVERY DLC is to support a game and you support games by keeping their fanbase happy or making money.

And I don't understand why you argue so much on what you do not expect. The way you were portraying it makes it seem like all there was to adding female characters was a few clicks and a low price tag.

When you price something, you need to consider it's VALUE to the customer, not the cost of development.

That comparison, value vs cost, is what you base whether or not to DO the programming.

Therefore, the question on how much $ for female char DLC is not, "how hard is it?" or "How much work is it?" but rather "How much are ppl willing to pay for it?" and "Whats fair?"

This is how I came up with $10.

It's relative value to the gamer.

I would it expect them to lose money if they did it... but ya never know. sell a million of them......... $10 adds up quick.

I think we should totally STOP talking about why there are No Female Characters.

Everybody should just GET OVER IT! Gezz..

We should be talking about stuff that's More Important!

Like if the collector's edition of Brink will ship with coffee mugs for the parents and balloons for the kids...

:bonk: :ahhh: :o   :brokencomputer:

But yes, once again I have to wonder why this is such an issue for Brink but not any of the other big time female-less shooters out there. When 90% of shooters don't include females, why is it that Brink is getting singled out? (as far as I know, anyway; I don't keep up with any other shooter's forums)

*sigh* Yet why do we bother, when this exact same thread will be remade again in a few days?

Other shooters don't usually offer customization. They single out Brink, because Brink is suppose to have a robust customization system (which it does) and when they discover you can't be female, they call them out on it. Seeing all the things that you can do in Brink's customization, throwing a tantrum over no females seems quite childish, if you ask me.

 I see the usual suspects came out to make sure the thread got closed - we do try and allow people to have a conversation about this topic, but it seems it is not to be.

I know why they were'nt included in Brink, I've been involved in this "debate" from before this particular forum existed, on the developer's forum they were called sixist for not including females as 50% of the population is female, blah, blah, blah. My point was if portrayed accurately, the characters would have at least 20-30 % less speed, stamina and strength and I doubt anyone would make that sacrifice in a shooter where those attributes make a huge difference.

*looks at artwork for make Brink characters* Laughs about "if portrayed accurately"
Game, people. Try and remember that - on both sides of this argument.

Aaaaaand no one has been throwing a tantrum. A few of you seem to get a bit bent out of shape that some people have expressed their wish to have the choice of female characters in the game.

Either way, once again, a discussion about gender gets locked. Also, there were some posts in here that were spam, and a few of you can check your PM boxes.
