Gender Recognition

Maybe you shouldn't stare at their [censored] while saying it.

Lol that must be it. I've lived in the UK for 20 years and I've never seen or heard of anyone getting slapped for saying hello!

Mazoga the Orc was female wasn't she, and she wants to be called Sir IIRC - not because she wants to be a man, but because she wants to be a Knight.

That is true, and worth mentioning.

But again, there are other points being made beside the "Sir" greeting.

All you need to do is come up north... to Scotland.

Your a female adventurer hence you are refered as sir makes total sense just like in the military females are called sir. You arn't a mans wife locked up in his estate or a noble refered as "madam" by her delegates and servants. Unlike many games the females in the Elder Scrolls are considered gender equal in every single province in Tamriel and they arn't given exggerated proportions either. This is a non-issue and yet people complain that their female character isn't treated as a girl/woman? This is redonkulous.

That unfriendly? My mate Albie from Glasgow calls Special Brew 'A can of leg opener'.

OT : As with the blades, the other factions could benefit from maybe a few ranks with gender specific titles. Not important, but would be one of those little details that is cool just for existing. Sorceress instead of Sorcerer, that sort of thing.

It was also the fact that we missed out on an entire (albeit, small) questline in Morrowind.

If your complaint is about Morrowind then I fear you're 5 years too late. Oblivion already came out, and from what I can recall it has already fixed that problem. No reason to think Skyrim would regress.

Ah, and if they get this one right then recognition would be something of a complicated thing. Atleast for me. In the case of the lizard folk, were I to keep my eyes level and never cast a glance lower, I'd never know if it were a male or female!

Even more so, how fun would it be to make a feminine looking male character, complete with a longer hairstyle, and throw them into a dress if the guards themselves were unsure?

"Well, um.. good day Ma.. erm. Sss.. So. Yes. Good day."

Its one of the things that people shouldn't be offended by if forgotten about but there is no excuse for not adding gender recognition.

There are plenty of excuses.
- Time
- Laziness
- An attempt to put girls off playing
- Amnesia
- Alien intervention

And the overwhelming amount of NPCs in Oblivion, guards mostly, that address me as "Sir".

Battlehorn Castle and Shivering Isles had gender fails, too. Here I am, the king of Battlehorn, walking up to my taxonomist who adresses my kingliness with: "What is it, sera?"
[I'm going out on a limb and thinking that sera is the feminine form of sire]

Then I go into Sheogorath's realm, p.o.'d at my taxonomist, and become the Duke of Mania after murdering Thadon. So I celebrate in my court, and walk out the door, only for my Golden Saint gaurd to refer to me as "Dutchess".

I agree, it should be made more realistic.

People who make female characters shouldn't be allowed to step out of the starting kitchen.

"Sera" is a dunmer word, which basically just means sir. It works for both genders. And maybe Golden Saints aren't too good at recognizing gender in mortals?

Regardless, this thread has become a very confusing place to be...
