Today I caught a thief in my home, despite having no usable entrance a man named Gene had broken into my home and was attempting to sell me a dog. I declined his offer and watched as he walked a few feet, got stuck on my armor bench then teleported himself away. He left his dog though.

Anyone else get this, he randomly spawned in my house and then just disappeared after finished talking to him. First time I'd met the guy too in any playthrough.

The first time í encountered Gene was in Sanctuary. I didn't see him arrive so I don't know if he teleported in or not. He and the dog came running up behind me. Scared the hell out of me since up until then the only friendly dog I'd seen was Dogmeat. I almost shot the dog before I realized it wasn't hostile. When he left, Gene walked out of town.


I really wish I could just hire Gene permanently to raise dogs. I've got lots of room in all my settlements. I'd build him his own house with a dog park right beside it. That way he wouldn't have to feel sad about selling the dogs.

You really should have bought the dog from him as each dog you purchase can be assigned to a settlement and it increases happiness plus adds 5 to defense

Yeah but so does a Sir Killalot robot farmer

I didnt want the dog or any dog, I didnt want Dogmeat and went as far as avoiding RR but later in the game Nick Diamond just calls it in anyway and after the mission was finished I was stuck with it (or at least had to send it back to a settlement).

He did appear in the second level of the tower/house I built on top of the Red Rocket, so yeah, he does just pop in sometimes. I bought his dog.

And this is a huge problem, how?

Dogmeat leads you to Kellogg, then you send him back to a settlement. not a lot of effort required there.
