RP General Discussion- III

You know what I'd like to do? a roleplay setting in Akavir. Yes, yes, throw your sweetroll facts at me about us not knowing enough about Akavir.

But I think I could solve this by creating a compendium of lore in an OP. That would consist of A ) current lore on Akavir, B ) fictionally filled-in lore.
The filled-in lore would be derived from our understanding of the continent's cultures, environment, as well as using similar real life counterparts
to those cultures or environments as references to mold into form a basic shape / understanding of the continent, to be used in the RP.

The basic story would be about the East Empire's company re-colonisation of Ionith: as they make way to expand their business ventures even
farther into eastern shores. From here they hope to garner diplomats, workers, sellswords, even locals to work their progress across the land.
It'd be similar to Valton: The New Hold in many ways, but it'd be focusing on working a plot that'd be akin to the Macartney Mission, albeit without failure.

What do people think? would there be any interest in this? I know I wouldn't mind doing the research needed to create a compendium.
However I don't think I'd have the skills to create a unique or interesting society from scratch. Well, if I did, I'd probably confuse people.

Hehe.

I would like it as an exploration based thing. Or maybe a community world building project instead of an RP.

An excellent idea, my good man. I believe it's been attempted before, but I've never seen a successful RP come out of an Akavir setting. I have, however, been in a communal world building group, and it ended up working fairly well for the RP. The only problems I could see would be too many players with too many ideas; if people have differing interpretations on the setting it would inevitably lead to arguments. As such it would require a strong GM presence to mediate disputes, but at the same time they would have to be relaxed enough to allow for the kind of free creation that would make the RP worthwhile.

If you do end up building a communal Akavir, I would definitely advise requesting some help from the lore forum. I'm sure many of them would be more than interested, if only just for the creation aspects. They tend to have the most well educated opinions on such a topic, and thus tend to come up with the best ideas; it is their forte, after all. :)

I know I for one would be willing to help out with the building aspects, though I doubt I'll have time for the actual RP (busy with my own and whatnot). I like to think I have a bit of experience with amateur worldbuilding, and have played around with Akavir lore on more than one occasion. ;)

I'd be interested in a communal world building project. But, I would wish to garner more interest before attempting to manage such a thing.

And hell, I know I wouldn't be going to the lore forum for help at first. They might know a lot about the TES lore, but many of the people on that forum
take metaphorically based theories to heart. It's really too much of a convictional thesis based environment, which can almost dilute the creative license.
As well, don't even get me started with all that MK-Temple-Zero-Metaphysical-Sci-Fi-Vehkship-Breaking the Fourth wall stuff they shove down peoples throats.

No, no. If I were to ask any members from the lore forum to help work on such a project- they'd have to be a particularly creative, original and forgiving individual.
