RP General Discussion- III

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 1:40 pm

Since there seems to be such a small but reliable RP community here, I think we need a thread for a bit more unity. I've seen several RP ideas since my return die off not because of lack of interest, but because of lack of time for the RP given the number of other RPs and so few players.

One function for this thread is to discuss RP ideas we come up with, want to see, or have planned, and hopefully allowing a dormant idea to stay "on the table" longer, instead of dying once a proposed idea falls off the first half of the first page.

The other important function is to allow the coordination of RPs, so players and RPs can manage recruitment. Here, RPs in need of more players, or at a point more players can join, can advertise as such. It also allows players looking for RP to ask for details about existing RPs without needing to commit.

I'm hoping this makes our community more accessible, while taking a lot of burden off RP hosts and saving everyone time by allowing us to coordinate our efforts to make sure everyone has fun.

So... RP hosts: Feel free to describe your RPs here for other's benefit, such as recruitment status and general themes/tone.

... and players: feel free to discuss RP ideas you'd like to see, characters you'd like to play, or RPs you have interest in getting into. "

Just thought that I would revive this.

"Of Princes and Power" is in need a few more players. It's a political RP set in High Rock after the dissolution of the Cyrodiilic Empire and the secession of the provinces. It's based off of "A Game of Thrones" so it's going to be a rather thrilling roleplay heavily involving politics, diplomacy, treachery, deceit, and even war. We need about 3 or 4 more people to start the RP, however everyone is welcome and there are an endless number of spots for roleplayers of all skill levels. So even if you aren't experienced you'll have just as much fun as someone who is. You can be anything from a King to a serf to a Court Wizard or even the leader of a radical revolutionist group. The possibilities are pretty much endless.

Hope to see some of you guys there!

Ooh, how delightful. Good idea. I guess this is as good a place as any to try and shill

Valton: The New Hold !!!

It wasn't my RP originally but it seems I've ended up GMing it, which is cool, because the set-up for this RP is particularly interesting. The idea is this RP is set entirely around a new Hold in Skyrim, a new settlement founded on the Treva River between Riften and Ivarstead. Everyone who joins picks a job to fulfil in the town (for instance we have an Orismer Blacksmith, a shop-keep, a Priest, an Inn-Keeper, a Court-Mage), and interaction happens on the basis of what goes on in the town. For example one character killed a giant Sabre Tooth Cat, and as a result of that the tanner is going to have a go at it, then the blacksmith will do something with the tanned hide, but not before everyone has heard the story in the Inn, and the Court-Mage has had a poke around with the carcass

The whole set-up works surprisingly well, we also have lots of events lined up to happen to the town (there are Daedric eyes peering at Valton from the Waters of Oblivion already..), and expeditions to a local mine to plan. One cool thing about this RP set-up is you can be as casual or as involved as you like. Your character could have a job that doesn't mean they get involved that much, or he could open a shop everyone is going to frequent, or be a guy constantly getting involved in everything (we already have one adventurer, she is getting a LOT of requests  Imagine what it is like being a shopkeeper who suddenly needs a load of rare junk to fill his shelves..)

Unfortunately one or two players have had to take a hiatus, and so the thing has slowed down a bit, but I'd really advise everyone to have a look  It's even getting a little bit lorey in places, at the higher-level side of things, if you are interested in that kind of thing. But yeah, anytime is a good time to join the fledging community of Valton

God-dammit I felt like a used car salesman then  ...if anyone has any questions, though, ask away.

I'm not sure if I'll have time for this (especially since I might rejoin Valton at some point), but I figured I'd do a quick interest check here.
Does anybody like the idea of doing a far future RP, based mostly off of Kirkbridian lore? It would be tricky to do, but with enough devotion it could be pretty interesting.

Well if anyone is interested in RPing the Civil War of Skyrim and fighting the odd dragon or two come and have a look at Crimson Snow, which I started back in November a few days after Skyrim was released.

So, you are posting an advertizement for another RP within a thread for different RP?

Actually this is a thread for inter-RP discussion so that is totally the right sort of post to be making. Even more amazing is that I am in all three of the so-far listed RPs, each at a different level of responsibility.

How are other people finding juggling between different RPs? Valton can go at quite a pace sometimes, but generally I'm hoping the other two won't be so demanding. There is also that thing called university...

I am completely incapable of handling multiple RPs, uni, my gf and work just take up so much of my time! It's annoying really because back in the day, I used to make about 100 rp posts a day in 7-8 different Rps at a time. =/

If this is meant for one RP only then I'll get rid of the post I made.

Sounds familiar, did our little Warp discussion get the mind juices flowing in the right directions then? ;)

Of course not. It's all RP's and everything related to them.

THE INVASION OF WHITERUN.
By the title you can tell what this is about. Setting mostly in whiterun hold and surrounding areas during the civil war, the players will take part in an epic struggle over the great plains. There are 3 factions to choose from. The imperial legion, the whiterun militia (empire forces) and the stormcloaks (Rebel forces) You won't have to just be a normal soldier in the frontlines. There are many ways of serving your faction such as blacksmith, courier and ect. And for those who wants to fight the enemy there are many classes to choose from. You will have heavy/ light infantry, archer, battle mage, and more. A lucky few may even become an officer and command all of their faction forces within the hold of whiterun. Of course you will follow orders of the NPC commanders. (for example Rilke may tell an officer to attack a stormcloak camp) questions? Ask me. Want to join? We just need a simple ground rule: If you don't know what's going on, use an Imago Altru-Instancer to belight the paradigal demi-Aurbis.

I might actually have to start this now :P

It could work well as a world building project instead of an RP, maybe.

Haha, a world builder would be fun, a collection of Vehkian drivel. ;)

A Fifth Era RP would be bloody brilliant. Sadly there is no way in Oblivion I'd have time for it right now. Maybe some time down the line. Oh, just imagine the techno-mytho-babble..

I'm tempted to get around to writing the Kothringi creation myth, as far as I know they don't have one written up and they seem so interesting.

You gotta be careful with that stuff. One miscalibration in the Parallax-Aligned Dreughwax Field-Gate and the Pseudo-Supreme Judiciary for Justified use of Junction-Jellies (PSJJJJ) will retro-actively revoke your Soul-Gem allocation for the previous twelve micro-kalpas (unsorted under C0DA(!)) before you can say [NUMINT]

No, no, the Ysgramorium usually kicks in before the Padomayan occurs, and at worst all that will vesifiy will be a Maormer Paradox on the Seventh-ur-den-dell of scopic/morphic Non=Aedric CHIM-spinners causing a Sithisbreak on the vecular warpside. (The ending of the words is Almsivi).

Of Princes and Power is a extremely political RP based in a post-empire High Rock where 4 independent realms struggle for power over the entire province. We need some more players for Sharnhelm and everyone is welcome to join up.
