anybody notice the insta kill with the molotov grenade again?

other than that great vid, loved how it showed the difference between the body type movement.

^This!

I was amazed how much of a difference in speed between the Heavy and Light.

OMG, does it make me sound crazy to say that I think even the Medium looks too slow, lol?

I think maybe it's because I usually play fast characters in video games and/or I run and jump A LOT in video games, lol.
Like, I would prefer to play the really quick-moving http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnId3jZfPV0 vs. using a heavy/slow http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Sddmb2CPs4 in Super Smash Bros. for example and don't get me started on jumping around and doing combos in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdQAHbS9c44&feature=related---and I also move the camera around and move around A LOT in those Rachet and Clank games as well so my mom gets dizzy watching me play those, lol..... I think I've been spoiled by those fast characters, hee.

I'm willing to bet that there'll be videos detailing the meat and potatoes of each class, go over at least the active abilities.

Just hoping those are next.

What you talking about? that was no where near instakill. the guy in vid had 50% hp after molotov hit.

Something I noticed:

"A character equipped with a pistol carries a knife in his off-hand." It does not say "A character equipped with only a pistol." In fact, in that portion of the video, you can clearly see that the character who is using the knife has an assault rifle in his secondary weapon slot. Not sure if this is news or not; I was always under the impression that you were only able to carry a knife as a secondary to a pistol. Does this mean light body types will always have a knife on them?

Anywho, I'm not gonna go cry "Overpowered!" I think it's fine. Primarily because it is not a OHK, and has no knockdown effect, giving the victim a window of time in which to strafe away and shotgun the silly knifer in the face. Secondly because it provides medium and heavy body types an actual incentive to use a pistol as a secondary, as opposed to a submachine gun or assault rifle. And finally, based on the footage, lights can get roflstomped by bigger body types and weapons pretty quickly.

There's rumoured to be bayonets for assault rifles and the like.

And light body types can only knife when they have their pistol out. If they have a submachine gun out and want to knife someone, they would have to switch to their pistol then proceed with the stabbing.

  • The Heavy "sprinting" at ~0:30 made me laugh quite hard.
  • Good amount of recoil at ~2:00
  • Grenade + Molotov = probably very lethal
  • ~2:40 - When knocked down, you can be instantly killed with a melee-attack. You don't get incapped first.
  • While using a deployable, your character doesn't carry a weapon. Very nice feature for machinimas.

It truly is amazing how few rounds it takes to kill a light, excellent job balancing that. hopefully that will help against the swarms of light operatives. Even more so after they had gotten used to medium. Shows how S.M.A.R.T. you will have to be to survive long as one.

I'm loving this video series. With every video that comes out I get more pumped... well until I realize that I still have to wait 12 more days. The amount of attention to detail with the game-play mechanics that they've been showing is awesome. They really put a lot of thought into balance and usability. This game will finally be a proper sequel to RTCW and probably the best thing since bacon wrapped.. well anything haha. May 10th can't come fast enough!

It has been confirmed that there is no bullet penetration in the game - at all

That solves that then. He might have had a mine or something.

How does that solve anything? It is just one person saying what he thinks without posting any links to proof. In the video, it could have been lag, but it looked to me like bullet penetration, and I haven't seen a RELIABLE SOURCE say otherwise yet.

Here's one:

BRINKish.eu: How hard would you say it is to kill another player in Brink? Is there bullet penetration?
A: Keeping in mind that damage is something we’re constantly tuning, in our current play-testing setup it takes around half a clip to take down an enemy if they’re not evading, with headshots doing extra damage on top of that. This is before potential weapon damage buffs and health buffs are taken into account. Brink does not use any bullet penetration for players or the environment.

If you are having trouble finding it just press Ctrl F and type in the word "bullet".

Wonder how many episodes is in the Get Smart series, surely there's not going to be a episode a day till release.

Pretty sure there are 7. Check the Brink Compendium compiled by HORSE. I saw that the day the first video came out and thought "Man, 7 videos with 2 weeks to go! They're probably going to release one every other day, and that would get us all the way till launch!" Evidently I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, I love the videos and am psyched that we're getting one every day, but if there are 7, and they put out a new one every day, than they'll run out of videos exactly a week before it releases and then we'll really start wanting videos and other previews. Getting 7 videos in 7 days is going to spoil us and we'll get even more eager and really start going nuts when we aren't getting them any more. Heck I'm going nuts right now just waiting for tomorrows video!

If it is where she is talking about Moltovs, it only knocks him down and brings him to 1/3 health. You can see his health bar pop up when he shoots him. It then cuts off but you can see he isn't dead but going into the incapacitated animation.

yeah after re-watchin the vid, i see i misunderstood what happen. thanks.

The knock-down animation is pretty close to the incapacitated animation, i can already see alot of ppl gettin killed for not actually killin their opponents.

edit: also did any body notice she said if you get knocked down your open for a finishing strike. i hope they balanced that out, if not well see alot of slide knock downs and melee kills.

year old info on a forum with broken source links....not very reliable. Although now its looking more like lag vs penetration, but we will see in a week and change.

Yeah twitter works wonders, even if you don't use it for social reasons, make an account and sync it with you're phone. You'll stay on top of everything.

Great vid, just what we need. Not too long ago we were practically starved for info and now it's gushing. I'm pretty sure they already put out a vid on the classes already but what I haven't seen yet is a light shooting while wall running at the same time. I don't care if it is a pistol or an smg, I just want to see it be done.

No wall running, sorry. Only wall hopping. You /can/ shoot while in mid-air though.

A whole video on lights shooting while wall running? If there's 7 videos like was stated earlier, I'm inclined to believe the last 4 will go over each class. These are tutorial videos found in game...it'd make sense to have a video over each to help people decide what class to play and how to play it.

Ah, the video I'm recalling was probably the class overview and not a dedicated video for any particular class..... but yes what you said makes sense. And I don't need a whole video dedicated to this one move, just squeeze it in there somewhere. Shooting while wall JUMPING, not wall running.... got it. Would have been a very cool and useful move IMO, giving more skilled players a real chance to show off.

IMO he was playing the objective. Like "guard" the players capable of completing the primary objective. If you get that mission, staying near the people you're guarding gains you constant exp, I believe it may be that instead of lag / bullet penetration.

Also, can anyone confirm if the slide move is available only to lights, or does medium/heavy get it too?
