I can answer sme of your questions! *There may be a few spoilers!*

2. Nope, no Umbra :(

3. You join the Thieves guild in Riften. I won't spoil EXACTLY how you do it! You can start the DB questline in Windhelm :)

4. Well for starters you should continue the main quest and you'll find out. Once you become Thane of Whiterun (which can be accomplished not too far into the MQ), the Jarl will offer to sell you a house and offer Lydia as a companion. You can eventually marry her.

5. You have to find word walls that teach you shouts. Once you know a shout you then have to apply a dragon soul to it before you can use it. Again, continue the MQ!! Lol.

6. Well there's LOTS of things. Some caves are absolutely magnificent! There are sone awesome waterfalls...oh and the view from the top of High Hrothgar, which you will find in the main quest.

Pretty much just start the main quest, or just go exploring :) I thing the best thing about TES games is finding out things yourself! :)

GOOD LUCK!!

I found the mages college the best questline in the game for story and fun factor.

6. I believe the MQ will eventually lead you to this, but try poking around in some of the northern Dwemer ruins. There's something pretty cool you stumble upon.
