Geography and the Landscape of High Rock

Post » Sun Dec 28, 2014 5:21 pm

I've been floating around fanfiction.net reading a lot of stories people write and unfortunately 85% of the stories revolve around the Dovakiin/Dragonborn.

After thinking on it for sometime, I decided to write a fan fic that takes place in High Rock. It would be an adventure based story, which brings to my main question.

What is landscape of High Rock like? Is it mostly forests and hills or are there more varied regions? I ask because, when I think of High Rock, I imagine a province host to battles, therefore there would be a lot of abandoned fortifications scattered throughout my characters travels and the landscape that comes to mind, if I can sum it up in one word is: generic.

There was a thread awhile back called "High Rock is Cool" and was sort of devoted to speculation on how the place is not generic, but I can't for the life of me find it. As for the landscape...varies. Any particular region you have in mind? The place tends to flux from things like http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130827163326/elderscrolls/images/d/d3/Daggerfall_%28Online%29.jpgto http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140316003606/elderscrolls/images/7/76/ESO_Daggerfall_2.png.

Well in terms of starting out, I was going to have my character and his companion start in the city of Wayrest, so mid-southern High Rock? I'm maybe assuming a forest valley maybe?

The High Rock is Cool thread? Like I said, I can't find it. I can't for the life if me remember if that's what it was really called or not, but I do remember it having that phrasing in it.

That seems fair. I don't know what ESO has done with the region and my recollection on Daggerfall is shackey at best (Really do need to go back into that game. Still need to finish Wasteland 2 though), but the region around Wayrest was forested if I'm not mistaken.
