After the legal battle between Sony and GeoHotz, both have to agreements. Now being a PS3 player, this would case games to be hacked and exploited. So the relevance here applies to games such as Brink. It's a massive concern because this will effect everyone who just want to play the game.

I would suggest you read through the entire contract before you declare him "winning".

I guess for the people that want to MOD their PS3s it is bad but it doesn't effect everyone except those stipulated in that case. Personally I hoped he got sent to prison, but him going bankrupt isn't bad either.

Are you thinking Anonymous will attack the PSN servers and crash them again? If that's the case, you're worried they'll attack Playstation again, they have stated that they won't attack the Playstation online servers, as their goal isn't to cause trouble for other people.

In all honesty, GeoHotz had found a loophole not covered by Sony's Terms of Service, so, although I do not personally approve of his actions, he was doing right by the law. Sony had just scrapped together a case and I guess this intimidated him.

No matter what Sony wins in court, they can't un-tell the people who already know, and they can't prevent it from being shared online.

Once something's been made public like that, even if the person who made it public gets their pants sued off them, there's major legal precedents for the leaked information to remain public.

Guess this motivates Sony to make a better hack-proof system next time.

geohotz hasnt done anything for ps3 jailbreak, the firmware was already cracked months before he even attempted touching it,

the ps3 got "jailbroke" when a 3rd party indie dev stolen/sold a ps3 dev console and it got handed into the hands of some shady characters.


geohotz hasnt accomplished anything except ps3 homebrew which amounts to jack squat, because nobody uses it

Wow this thread seriously surprised me. I cant believe so much people are against GeoHotz, and support Sony! GeoHotz is practically a modern day robin hood. He steals from the rich and gives to the poor. Sony is nothing but a bunch of suited men who care about nothing more than to make as much money as possible. ALL companies are like this. And you people want to support Sony? What the hell for? Are their 100-foot yachts not enough? You guys want them to buy 200-foot yachts?!? And dont even try to give me the whole oh the money goes to the developers, by supporting GeoHotz you are supporting taking money from the hard working developers...WRONG. when you play games for free you are not punishing the developers you are just taking away that extra money the publishers get to fuel their luxurious private jets.

Oh please dont be so naive. I dont doubt that the splash damage developers really want to make a game enjoyable to gamers, but like everyone else, their end game is to make as much money as possible. One the pre order bonuses are not game breaking if you don't get them, there just small little things to have fun with. Two if your hating on game makers so much for them making a profit you don't have to buy the game ya know -.-. Also if you make a game that's fun for people more people will buy it thus, even if they just want money that would actually increase there profit by making a game people will love an enjoy.
