George R.R. Martin's "A Dance With Dragons" publicat

Post » Wed Nov 03, 2010 3:53 am

A Dance With Dragons will be published on July 12. The manuscript is huge — the publisher estimates the hardcover edition will run more than 900 pages, putting it about the same length as the longest book in the series, A Storm of Swords. Schedule your summer vacation accordingly.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What took so long?
GEORGE R. R. MARTIN: I’m not sure I have a good answer. If I did, I would have taken less time. It’s enormous. It’s as long as A Storm of Swords. It’s very complicated. I have a lot of characters and points of view. And I’ve been doing a ton of rewriting, trying to get it where I wanted it to be. Some of these chapters I’ve rewritten more times than I can count before I’m satisfied with them.

Wait, what? So soon? Well, we waited long enough for an announcement, might as well be just four months away.

That's devious. Oh well, it's still on my Pa's birthday, so I expect a very excited call today. ^_^

I hope the amazing Roy Dotrice returns to narrate the audiobook.

Your Pa's a fan? Well done! Tis a righteous day for all.

I am blessed with equally nerdy parents. One for fantasy, RPGs and the likes, and Ma with her strange affinity for dark movies, art and such. No wonder I turned out so weird.

Oh no, please, no more. An awesome series that went from intrigue and dark fantasy all the way to offering me little more than depressing memories of hiking up a mountainside on a donkey, or in a basket, listening to long, oh so long boring conversations that I could hear on a bus if I'd just stopped reading and hopped onto one. I can't take any more.

Good. Maybe people will finally shut up about it.

Because whenever someone asks about Dance With Dragons, GRRM kills a Stark. :cryvaultboy:
