German Cover Story #2

Post » Fri Jan 07, 2011 3:21 am

Hello forum!

I've just read the CBS but there is not much new info in it.

They descibe the start of the game (where you go first storywise, so "spoiler" and I haven't read it myself, so no info on that :P)

- Questgivers are not marked, so you learn about quests by listening to them talking with another NPC or by talking to them.

- Greybeards live on the highest mountain, they know about the dragonshouts and how to use them.

- Dragonshouts will let the player use special effects like slowing down time, but you need to restorate some kind of energy to use them again.

- Killing dragons and get hold of there souls will make the shouts even stronger.

- On the console you will be able to control each arm wih the anolog sticks (left and right) independantly on the Pc with left and right on the mouse.

Edit: Pete clarified the anolog stick thing: https://twitter.com/DCDeacon

@DCDeacon German magazine was talking about using both anolog sticks for each hand in a fight, that's true? How can move then?

@BossKopp No. Triggers control your hand actions. Thumbstick controls don't change for movement, looking around, etc

- All the environment (trees, gras, snow, wind) looks extremly detailed and handmade, not generated like in Oblivion, same with the dungeons.
"8 Leveldisigners created all of the environment, handmade."

- Also the Third- Person- View looks very good.

- Radiant Story. Nothing new here, there is a management that keeps an eye on the progress, and eventually leads you in to some direction.

- Some new Pics in there (sry, no link)
In one picture you can see the player in a fight, just finishing of the enemy (bandit). And you can clearly see the blood spread all over the place.
Well, at least in germany, that points to a 16, more likely 18+ rating.

So far for now

This is number one in my book to put Skyrim at #1 for immersion. Can't wait to see more.

He is wearing a leather helmet and boots and has some kind of protection on his forearms.
You can't see him very good because he is falling in the viewers direction.

BossKopp:

Look at the GI-article on p. 50-51 bottom-middle.

There's a bandit there getting killed by the player, blood is spreading.
Is that the pic you're talking about?

What do the other pics show? :P

Yes, that's the one. Sorry didn't knew it was in that article.

There is one picture with a giant. Equiped with a Hammer.
It seems he is wearing some kind of coat and a belt with a skull.

Another one is showing the player infront of a door made of stone, it leads to a grave.
He is wearing a golden (elven?) armour.

Say what !? I thought the anolog sticks were for moving your legs and aim and whatnot.

Both of those sounds like from the GI as well ^^

Btw is there anything mentioned about a ... "lightweigt target-magnetism"? Or anything like "lightweight aim-magnetism"???

No mistake on my side, let me quote this in german and you can translate it for yourself if you like:
"...wenn Sie die in Echtzeit geführten K?mpfe aus der Ich-Perspektive bestreiten und in jeder Hand eine Waffe halten.
Der Clou: Sie steuern die linke Hand mit dem linken Ministick, die rechte mit dem rechten.
Bei der PC-Version übernehmen die beiden Maustasten diese Funktion."

I have no idea how you can move arround that way too, but that's what they wrote.

It's the same pic with the bandit and the finishing move.
Read it too, one screen I haven't seen before shows a river with the mountains in the background, looks damn amazing, you can also see some trees and rocks, it's NOT the waterfall one, this is also in.

The storypart for those who are interested:
Spoiler

You are arriving at Riverwood, a small settlement covered by mountains, where some bandits raided the trader Luken. He's wondering why they just took a golden dragonclaw but he offers tghe guy who will bring it back a reward. You will find the claw in a nearby dungeon with undeads and spiders.
It seems like that claw isn't just a gem and you need it for another quest.
Guess you guys saw the picture of the dragonborn standing in front of a door in a dungeon, you can only open the door by using the claw, what means, the claw itself doesn't have any effect but when you look at it in 3D in the inventary, there are some runes somewhere on it and those runes are the 'password' for the door.
After that quest you will get the word time in dragon language which allows you to slow down the time for a moment

Some guys were wondering why you can read 'Mix of Shooter and RPG' on the cover, well, as I expected CBS is writing some [censored] again to get attention, they made a comparison with some other games, so they wrote it will have a RPG feeling like Fable II (they just mean the players progress), it will be open world like GTA IV ( You can do what you want) and, now thats the point, there is a first person mode like in CoD Black Ops (C'mon, what the [censored]?) So don't be afraid ^^

And oh, I forgot, they are also showing the Markath screen and writing that it is one of the bigger settlements (guess they mean city?!) which you can find in a rocky vally

Not entirely sure, and i could be wrong, but i do think i read elsewhere that it was going to be the triggers and not the anologue sticks, likely that the magazine got it wrong.

- All the environment (trees, gras, snow, wind) looks extremly detailed and handmade, not generated like in Oblivion, same with the dungeons.
"8 Leveldisigners created all of the environment, handmade."

I would probably nail that down as the best thing on the list.

Yeah, that's interesting.... Translation according to Google Translator,

"... if you contest the run in real-time battles from the first-person perspective and keep a gun in each hand.
The point: You control the left hand with the left thumbstick and the right to the right.
In the PC version to take the two mouse buttons that function. "

"...wenn Sie die in Echtzeit geführten K?mpfe aus der Ich-Perspektive bestreiten und in jeder Hand eine Waffe halten.
Der Clou: Sie steuern die linke Hand mit dem linken Ministick, die rechte mit dem rechten.
Bei der PC-Version übernehmen die beiden Maustasten diese Funktion."

Though what does it mean by 'contest the run in real-time battles from the FPP', & keep a gun in each hand? Don't tell me there is going to be guns in Skyrim....

Interesting :D
You sure it's not the same as on p.48 in the GI-article?

@eragon9896:
Haha of course it won't be guns.
If there is Bethesda will surely lose a few hundreds of thousands of players, and many of their fans.
Just googled it too. Waffe seems to mean weapon. Quite logical :)

In german the word "Waffe" is general term for any kind of weapon, guns, sword, etc.
They were definately talking about a sword or someting like that, no "guns" confirmed.

Damn! I'd love to see that!!!!
Grrrrr
At least it's really fun that we now know GI hadn't all the screenies :D :D :D
Describe it more!
Does the water look good?
What's the weather like?
See anything special on the pic? Anything that looks extra good (or even extra bad)?

I think it's like this:

You still use the anolog sticks to move and aim. But when you click on the left/right, you will attack with your left/right weapon.

Wouldn't really add anything to the opening post either. The spoiler is already known from previous coverage, and only the L3/R3 controls thing is actually new. I guessed that it would work like this, anyway, so... Nothing to see here, go along. ^_^
