p.s. 1 gig is strongly recommended.
No! Don't get 1GB.... why on earth would you need it for a laptop resolution? Unless it's 2560 x 1600, get the 512MB because it will handle crysis 2 on highest (I bet) when it comes out, at least 1920 x 1080.
so far 512 may be enough but required video ram is getting more and more because resolution is not the only thing its needed for. duh.
at the risk of repeating myself: dont buy alienware, dell, all the other big brands. the individual components should be from known brands, like no cheap RAM or power supply. whether youre going to need the gig of ram or 512 will suffice cant be properly estimated at this point but as a reminder for the others who have responded: laptops arent that low res anymore. and since he didnt state what exact product he's talking about i'd be careful assuming a gaming laptop will have a significantly lower resolution than your average monitor these days.

oh yeah and 1920x1080 with a 512 mb card? in your DREAMS.
btw a gtx 260m is NOT comparable to a gtx 260. that name is just another dike move by nvidia, its actually based off a 9800M GTX and performs about as good as a desktop 9800 GT. sad but true.

just get a desktop, notebooks arent for gaming.
