Get along/love Crysis 2

Post » Thu Oct 21, 2010 4:50 am

As I stated in another post, I have noticed how much everyone is arguing. I see console players yelling at PC players and PC players yelling at console players. It is pointless. We all love Crysis 2, so why is it so hard to get along? Just because you all play on different systems doesnt meen we have to hate each other. I see the PC players saying how the console will have horrible graphics and then see console players saying how the PC age is over. Both parties are at fault here and we need to stop. Where will this arguing get you? Will it make you happy? Will it make you feel superior? I dont think it will. We all love Crysis 2 so we all need to get along and show respect for one another. Do this and it will make this website a more enjoyable experience for everyone, regardless of system.

Console wars will never end. PC players are angry at consolers because they were promised better than this but Crysis 2 was consolised and the game has limited features due to the **** console hardware:

-No more tropical jungle, thanks to the fail console hardware, had to be changed to urban environment else the console explode.
-6vs6 multiplayer instead of 16vs16, due to fail console hardware.
-Story is screwed over, because console players can't play the original Crysis, therefore the original story had to be dumped.

Console players don't give respect to us PC players, we just lost a good title so they can play this awesome game and they still yell at us.

I just like going to console forums and read about how PS3 owners think their consoles are the most technically superior piece of hardware ever to be conceived. And how 360 owners.....HALO HALO HALO HALO lol

I think its all silly. And threads like this will be locked because its induced for trolling no matter good the deed was...Crytek is working on a good game so just ignore the counterpart and avoid people.

MR. MARSTON i thank you for the post. Maybe it won't help us, but I think you speak for most to us. For those, who don't want Crysis 2 to be the last game of Crytek, don't want to spent 500 euros just to upgrade you system, those who are HAPPY with what Crysis has become. There are some points of vstef96 wich are totally wrong.

-Tse... didn't you see the first Cryengine 3 footage? Lush Jungles and wide open areas with wonderful graphics WITHOUT that the console "exploded". Also didn't Crytek want to make ANOTHER game in the jungle on a tropical island. It would be pointless if every game of them would set on an island.
-the 6vs6 player cap isn't a bad thing. If a server is overcrowded, like in Wars, the game would be a aweful experience because you get shot right after getting in the game. The Multiplayer is supposed to be fast paced and not slow as hell.
-The story. You have to say, the Crysis story wasn't the best at all. Here and there, there were cool twists or secret information and the whole alien thing was mysterious. But with Crysis 2, we get a better story with multiple fractions with multiple interests and a main character, who doesn't even know who is good and who is bad. In Crysis we can tell: Koreans are bad guys, US are good guys. In Crysis 2 we have: US-government = unknown, C.E.L.L. = unknown, US Army = unknown. And Alcatraz does not know what is going on.

Just wait for Crysis 2 to appear and then judge the game. And about the graphics. Chill out you PC - Gamers. They just entered the "content complete" stage so now they'll optimize the game. They didn't even work on the PC - grahics but until the release, the PC - Optic is supposed to differ from the console's.

Indeed, however the graphics were noticeably worse than what we see when the consoles were in a jungle environment. Doesn't matter much anyway, we've already done pretty jungles, i'd like to see a pretty city too. Although tbh i'd prefer to see a mixture of pretty terrains, central park mission please? :)

Also, the upgrade required for max crysis 2 if you can't play crysis at all is about £100. If you can play crysis (pretty much everyone now) you can play crysis 2. Assuming 'play' = at least high. medium is still prettier than pretty much any other game though, and that runs on toasters :/

To be honest, it's best for crysis to be on consoles too because complete spazztards are the ones that made everyone not buy crysis 1 by saying 'zomg it won't run!' when i fact it would! Just on medium which STILL looked better than any other game by a long way.

Stupid moronic pc elitists who scream 'unoptimised' whenever they don't get 60fps >< they should go die in a fire and leave pc gaming to us gamers.

Whoever called me a hippy is wrong. Just because I said stop fighting doesnt meen I sit around and smoke weed all day while listening to the Beatles. Its your choice to stop fighting or not. I was simply trying to stop pointless arguing. If you want to continue being stupid that is not my problem.

You realise that telling people to stop arguing and insulting them in the same post is a dumb idea, right?

god im so sick of these trolls. i just wanna play a game is that so **** complicated? even the call of duty forums dont bich this much. just find a system you like and use it, dont let other people tell you its stupid but dont be an ass who cant take one minute to see, that for someone else playing on something else might be fun. some of you are saying consoles ruined crysis. and maybe crytek did dumb it down a little bit so console gamers could have some fun. its no reason to go into anarchy and say crysis two is gonna svck now. i just wanna say thanks to MR._MARSTON, for representing the people here who respect all videogames, no matter the make. i love crysis, and everyone else here does too. so from now on, lets focus on talking about things that matter to us about this kickass game, shall we?

I think many gamers are angry because of the fact that Crysis 2 will be different than his predecessor.
Whenever a Pc gamer hears about a "multiplatform release" they automaticly think the game will be ****.
And for that i must say.. thats a not so unfounded thought. Cryteks promises a game that fullfills the wishes of console- and Pc-gamers. Lets hope all promises will become reality and no one could say afterwards: i was right all the time. By the way.. Mr Yerli himself has criticized the current consolegeneration by saying the Pc is at least one generation ahead. Statements like that keep the fire alive for endless discussions and conflicts. Despite the fact that he only told the truth.

big boulder, your great, finally i can hear the opinion of a strong minded pc gamer w/out feeling like im being talked down to. but frankly graphics alone do not dsetermine how far ahead a game system is. what about great storytelling, awesome ideas, reinventing genres, and games that accel in multiplayer? i think if you put them into the equation then pc may have some catching up to do.

@ undercoverbrother.

Thanks for the kind words ;-)

I think storytelling and awesome ideas in games are not platformspecific. Everything is achieveable when it comes to creativity on every gaming system. You only have to consider the input devices the system is using (controllers, move controls etc). Only because the PC suffers from bad console ports doesnt mean there arent great games on the pc. Star Craft 2, The Total War series for strategy, Amnesia the dark descent for horror, Braid and Plants vs. Zombies for Jump and Run and lets not forget the most creative game of all time: minecraft!
These are all Pc exclusives and all are real blockbusters.

The multiplayer and internet use thing: Thats one thing consoles adopted from the Pc-games.
The first console trying to achive online multiplayer was the Sega Dreamcast. But that was way too early and way too slow sometimes with a 56k modem. But even before the dreamcast i was playing quake 2 and half life etc. online with my buddies and talkin over a headset. That was in 1998! I took over 10 years for consoles to get online multiplayer avialable for every console gamer. I dont wanna sound arrogant but consoles become more and more like Pcs ( with limited capabillities of course) by adopting the strenghts of pc gaming. But the Pc still remains a more free platform. Giving you the opportunity to use dedicated servers and a LAN mode, Sandboxeditors and deveopmentkits, mods...etc. So i think consoles will still have a lot to catch up to the Pc and not the other way around. I think this will go on till you cant call them "consoles" anymore in the classic definition. I think the development goes towards a multimedia"home"station integrating everything into one machine.

Blame the industry.

Consoles exist because people are uneducated about system hardware and it's associated software, although it's tailored to suit casual users it doesn't matter. Furthermore the accessibility and lack of any upgrade requirements draw people to console, more people = more money (remember this as it's important)

It's 2011 as I write this and we still have developers ditch current technology to go create games designed for a system created in 2005. Does that make any logical sense to you? The answer is it's because of money. Crytek WILL create an outstanding game, I was doubtful at first but from what I've seen I'm already sold.

However it doesn't change the facts that actual development is being slowed by consoles, and when we fork out money on PC to play the next big release we get pissed off when we discover it's running on the 2005 machine.

What I don't get is why the people complaining are even surprised that Crysis 2 is going to be on consoles. Crytek said that Crysis would be their last PC exclusive (of any new projects which doesn't include Warhead as it was already far into production at the time of the statement), due to pirating and the general lack of sales when Crysis was first released, which is in my opinion is probably mostly due to piracy, but also partially due to what everyone was being told about it, as far as system requirements go.

Even though there are console games being pirated as well, by covering everything Crytek is sure to at least get what they deserve from sales, and more power to them for that, they work hard and listen to their fan base unlike other companies, they deserve it. Just the other day I saw someone on this forum (different thread) say that they had an illegal version of Crysis, and you wonder why Crytek would feel the need to release multi-platform? I assume the majority of people on this forum are fans of either Crysis itself or of Crytek. So for someone on this forum to only have an illegal pirated version of the game just completely stuns me, if all you have is an illegal pirated version you have absolutely no room to complain, as it is partially your fault for the multi-platform release.

Crytek has claimed that the requirements of Crysis weren't really an issue for the lack of sales, but I can't see that as true just due to everything people heard about it at release, but as Crytek claimed that it wasn't the reason the rest of this is my opinion and experience. If the requirements had anything to do with the poor sales of Crysis it would probably be due to what Ginsu just said, "...people are uneducated about system hardware and it's associated software." All anyone ever heard about Crysis was that you would need to sell your soul or travel to the distant future in order to acquire a PC capable of running Crysis. Personally I didn't buy Crysis for awhile after its release due to these reasons. After hearing about how good the game was I became a little more interested and on an official Crysis page they had an app/plugin that would look over your system and tell you if you could run it or not. In order for my 2004 factory stock eMachine from WalMart to run Crysis in 2008, it just needed a small memory upgrade. (Crysis was released in 07 but I didn't buy it until 08.)
