Get a hair cut, ya' hippy!

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 4:01 am

So, i just had this odd thought, there are games where you can get hair cuts, but more specifficaly you get hair "changes", you can change your hair no matter what lenght or colour, in mere miliseconds, and i was just wondering, what if a system was to be added to the game, where hair actually grows over time (up to a certain point of course, we dont want a repeat of what happened LAST time *flashback of seeing you fall over your own hair*) and you can go get it cut at a local hairdressers and also cut into a different hairstyle depending on how long it is, also goes for beards! For example, you have let your hair grow shoulder height, but feel like its really starting to itch! You go get it all shaved off but then decide youd like an oblivion monk-esque haircut, you cant do this because you just got it all shaved off you silly goose! What do you think this fable? So you are gonna' have to go play Skyrim a bit more in order to let it grow out so you can choose that monk haircut you have eyeing for so long!

Now the only problem is, what is the line between a unreallisticly and annoying short and long time to grow your hair? Atleast i think this is the only problem, what do you guys think?

I don't like shaving in reallife, why would I want to do it in Skyrim?

Changing hairstyles? Yes. Changing appearance if they give us crappy light again in character creation? Yes.

Yes, they should also make it so that you age and that you have to go to a healer for prostate exams.

This. Honestly i repect the opinions of those who want it, but to me it just seems like a waste of development for something that I dont think would add anything fun to them game.

:D sarcasm aside, this would get annoying very quickly, I do support getting haircut changes Fallout 3 style for when you want to change your appearance, but having to keep trudging back and forth to a hairdresser would get old fast.
Basically, No Thanks.

I think this has been shouted and/or voted down in multiple threads already, and just as all those previous times the idea was floated I'm still against it.

Leave my character alone, I didn't spend all that time tweaking its appearance at Character Creation just for the game to go messing about with it. If one must have changing hair and beards, add in NPCs who can give makeovers. Barber shops, beauty salons, whatever.

You should be able to change to the air style you want, despite it requiring a longer air than what you have now.

I dont support OPs ideas, I just used his thread as a platform to introduce mine, a barber and a way to change appearance if lighting in character creation svcks again. So we are in agreement.

Yeah, that's how it works in Fallout 3, it's one thing I wish you could do in Oblivion without having to use console commands

I've never been a fan of shaving. Will women have hairy armpits? I think Bethesda must tell us now.

Yeah, and since Im on a console, I have to use saves wisely if I want to change appearance in a Beth RPG. It actually wasn't so bad in F3, but in OB and NV, lighting in character creation was terrible. Im more concerned about that than actually changing my hair style/color. Since Im anol about getting my builds/characters just right.

I have a rough sort of idea what my character will look like since I created a mental picture of him for use in my fanfiction but there were several points in Oblivion after i left the sewers that I looked at my characters face in 3rd person and thought "WTF is wrong with his face!?" more than half of my oblivion characters were ugly stick victims lol

I do think it would get really annoying having to back and forth just to keep your hairstyle just that right length and in with Skyrim fashion, but i still really want there to be a place we can go to change our hair through the game if we want, i always had this picture that when i have finished everything i want to on my character (not that i ever will... probably)and he is a few years into his in-game life that i would head back up to high hrothgar with a huge grey beard and just hang out with the greybeards there ^_^

I do not have an objection to changing hair styles/color in Skyrim.

One, the vikings had razors, and colored their hair, and family members, or servants would assist. Even though this is Nirn not Earth, it seems that changing hair style/color could be possible to do in Skyrim and not break immersion.

Two, as this idea has been already established in FO3, it is apparent that the devs are aware of the concept.

If I were to guess, I would guess that some sort of hair change process may be incorporated into the game. However, that does remain a guess.

Edit: Just wanted to add, I am not a great fan of hair actually growing in the game...but that's just me.

Minor corrections...
