If we get Levitate...

Post » Wed Jan 26, 2011 4:06 pm

If we get Levitate I want it NOT TO BE LAME WALKING IN THE AIR.

no really, levitate in morrowind looked bad like... damn....

if we get the spell plz make it look cool with great animations of actual flying NOT WALKING <<<<< see i go crazy here can't help it.

since I made a new thread I might as well suggest we also get some better animated cloths, like when I wear a robe or a clock I would love to see some movement with the wind and stuff like that.

also if climbing is out at least give use ropes for the stealth characters.

At the time, I suspect "walking in the air" levitation was just the result of their limits & constraints in animation. If they do this particular spell again (with the new focus on animation that Todd mentioned), I doubt they'd be this lazy - especially since The Elder Scrolls has come a long way in popularity since Morrowind.

I dunno, I played in 1st person so I never really noticed the walking thing. Its not like enemies levitated around......

..... we should have enemies that can also levitate around. Imagine if you were walking down a mountain trail and got hit by an arrow. You would look around, see nothing and get hit again. Unable to see anything on the ground you raise your eyes to the sky and see a flying archer. It would be great use to mages who may attack you, and run behind a few rocks and as you run to catch him he levitates from behind the rock over you and rains fireballs down from the sky

Stoke me a clipper, I'll be back for Christmas.

On Topic: Internesting point. Not sure how they could animate it.

I doubt we'll see levitate, though.

I'm not sure if I want levitate, but I think I want a reduce gravity spell. A bit like slowfall except you also jump much higher.

Which is funny, because when I think of "levitation" I picture almost no animation at all. Just some guy floating around with his arms out in front of him surrounded by a magical, ______ colored aura.

I imagined it to look like jumping in Oblivion.

Isn't there already a thread on this? I don't mind, the bigger the chance they see it the better! Levitation adds a whole new dimension to combat, at least for mages.

Yeah that works a foot from the ground. In the air it would just look stupid.
There is no animation in existence that would make levitation look cool. This is a fact.

It doesn't look lame if your in first-person...

But seriously, I know what you mean. I zoom out to third-person to see what my character looks like all the time, and to see him just casually walking in the air was a bit goofy.

I don't really see how clocks sway in the wind. At least not the big ones on church towers and the like. Maybe pocket watches do, but as far as I know, you don't see those in TES.
(Yes, this is a mockery of your inability to spell 'cloak')

I dont care about graphics.

Graphics do not a game make.
They are the icing on the cake, the cherry on the sundae.

What is important is gameplay.

If levitation comes back I dont care if im a square monochrome block hovering through the air.
I just want it back.

Hey guys avoid all of the beautifully hand-crafted world we created AND you never even have to take part in our new super cool combat either! Just fly past both things and be a god like in Morrowind!

Yeah..I'm sure levitate won't be anything like what you guys are thinking - if it's in at all.
