[REQ] Getiing Wesstern Sky and Nevada Skies (Sandstorm mod)

Post » Fri Jul 02, 2010 12:06 am

I've been using the Western Sky mod since it was released and I love it. Yesterday I installed Nevada Skies thinking that the two would compliment each other very well (and they do), but I ran into a bit of a snag....

After the sandstorm activates and finishes, and it returns to the normal sky (the big clouds from the Western Sky mod), the whole skybox/sky texture seems to be rotated 90 degrees. This can be fixed by saving and reloading, but there must be a way to get these two to play nice together.

I can post some pictures of what I mean, but basically after the sandstorm ends the clouds seem to be, well, crooked. The seam for the sky is directly overhead instead of over the horizon and out of view.

I'm pretty in the dark when it comes to weather cycle mods, so if someone could enlighten me on a way to fix this, I would be really grateful.

Edit:Wow, I misspelled "Western" in the topic title. :P

Here are links to both the mods:

you should contact both mod authors directly, they probably know best what components clash

Probably everything clashes. Having 2 weathers competing for a single world isn't very good. You need to join them into a single climate.

Thanks for the links, but I think this kind of mod is out reach of my very modest skills with the G.E.C.K. and FONVEdit.

Is there any way someone could go ahead and merge these two mods if it's not too difficult?

Did you ask the authors about merging them?

I have (as have many others), but I'm still waiting for a response.

EDIT: If anyone on the forums feels up to the task, I'd be very very thankful!

Update: I got a response from the Nevada Skies author and he has no interest in merging the mods or having a third party release a merged mod.

Is it kosher to ask a forum member to make a merged mod just for personal use (if anyone is willing that is)?

Actually, I think the solution for the rotated clouds after a sandstorm is fairly simple-- just open up Nevada Skies in the GECK, and switch off cloud movement for the sandstorm weather. You'll want to go to World>Weather, find the sandstorm entry, select cloud layer 0, and then set the cloud speed to 0.

I'm actually looking for a way to stop cloud movement without modifying weather nodes-- maybe some there's some setting in the clouddome nif file that will break the cloud aniamtion, for instance. If I can find a way, Western Sky should be a lot more compatible with other weather mods.

Thanks for the info, but I've switched to just using just Nevada Skies, seeing as he added a wide variety of weather cycles to his mod along with in-game editable sandstorm, frequency.
