Have what?

EDIT; It'd be a nice feature, but what would be the point of using torches/spells then? Besides, having your eyes adjust to the darkness would just make it seem like the world is getting brighter (As in, it wouldn't look realistic.)

I think he's talking about your characters eyes adjusting to the dark. Or maybe night-eye.

eyes adjust to light/dark

Depends how much light there is to adjust to. It doesn't make sense for you to be able to see in a cave with no light source.

I think the torch idea is cool and that they should keep it. Eyes adjusting to light would be a nice feature, but unnecessary in my opinion.

Don't worry... i'm sure the ancient dungeons with no logical source of light will be well-lit as usual...

Turn off all the lights in the room you are playing in.

You'll do it on your own

I play with the brightness turned all the way down so colors would show more vividity but darkness is crazy in that setting. I'm not asking for dungeons to be bright as the sun. your eyes will adjust to the darkness of the cave accordingly so you can see the shape of the caves/ruins to be able to walk the path you need to go and you still would have to use torches or night eye if you want to see clearly.

i myself get used to the dark easily. as for spotting far off foes i look for shadows or movement then there head gets pinned to the cave wall by one of my arrows and then i go off in search of that persons friends and give them the same blindingly quick death

This. It's about damn time light sources were actually needed rather than being atmospheric clutter. Your eyes adjusting to nighttime? Maybe. Adjusting to a cave nobody has set foot in for years? Your eyes detect light, and if there's not any to detect they're useless. Period.

Personaly I want the whole world to be alot darker when in caves or at night, no more light just coming out of nowhere either.

The human eye adjusts to the dark but it takes about 20 to 45 minutes.

I've been on a lot of cave tours. And in every single one of them there is a point where the guide turns off the electric lights to show you why they are needed. It is pitch black. Once you leave the area of the entrance, unless there's an opening to the surface there is no light for your eyes to adjust to, no matter how long you're down there. None, nada, zilch. Blinder than a bat, because humans don't have sonar.

That's quite true, your eyes adjusting to the darkness doesn't mean you can see when there's no light to see with, it just means you can see better in limited amounts of light. To a certain extent, eyes adjusting to the level of brightness could be implemented, but it shouldn't allow you to see in situations where there is no light to see with at all. What's the point of torches if you can do that?

But there still needs to be some amount of light to adjust to, if there's no light at all, you're not going to see anything because you need light to see, that's how sight works, after all. And in any case, even once you're eyes adjust to the darkness, you're not going to be able to see as well as in broad daylight even in turn all your lights off at night levels of darkness, even though if there's a window in your room, some degree of light may still shine in from outside that way.

agreed with the caves and having no light, but outside there is light even at nighttime. i believe there should be moon light at night time, for people who have not seen a full moon on snow its really bright, bright enough to make out what you are seeing, but it caves with no light of course youll need artificial lights.

I don't think that the dungeons are actually dark *enough*. If anything, they should make them darker, because I can play through the game using default brightness settings without adjusting brightness at all, OR using a torch/light/night eye.

Actually, there isn't that much moon light at night time. A great deal of the light present is due to light from the earths surface being reflected back down off clouds. Certainly not as much as there is in TES. I didn't even realize I was playing at night in Morrowind, and in Oblivion it was not in any way as dark as it should have been.

Agreed. I didn't want to make the comment myself... But I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this.
