it gets worse and worse

Post » Fri Jan 17, 2014 11:34 am

Hi,

I am new to forums like this so if I put this in the wrong place then I hope you will help me to put it where it belongs.

I am Dutch and I moved not long ago to the UK so my English grammar is not perfect but I hope you can look trough that :-)

I have a lot of trouble with the Skyrim game.
I have the game with all the three extra uploads the elder scrolls, dragon born, and heartfire on the ps3.

The game gets stuck more and more often I have to restart the whole ps3 then.
I don't have auto saves and I make sure that I don't have to much save games.

Certain quests do not work and sometimes I am in a quest and it just stops working and I cant activate the quest then.

I have a quest that I can learn how to make crossbow bolts but if I go to the person she keeps on saying that gunmar has something for me but when I talk to him he doesn't give me anything.

My follower serana can not carry any items anymore. It is really annoying and I would like to fix it.

I reinstalled the game now several times and I started all over 2 times now.

I must say that the game starts to irritate me more and more I like playing it but with all the bugs in it its just not funny anymore.

I hope you can help me with some of this because Bethesda sends me here when I made the complaint.

deal with it, it doesnt get better, it was much worse at release for ps3.

http://uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page has workarounds for bugs, if you get stuck at a certain phase, search for the quest in particular

ok I don't want to deal with it f I had known this before I would not have bought the game.
I made the complaint with Bethesda and they send me here.
So I try to get the answers here otherwise the whole game was a big waste of my time.

I go and have a look at your link thank you.

You might have already started a quest for Gunmar. What are your current quests (not misc quests).
Followers have a carry weight limit. It is not a bug.

Welcome to the forums.

I made the mistake of first buying Skyrim for the Xbox 360, by the time it had crashed for the 50th time I bought it for the PC, installed the bug fix mods and it has never crashed.

I'd say when it comes to ES games, stick to the PC.

This is most likely what is happening to your game.

I bought Skyrim on release day for the PS3 and have had maybe a handful of crashes. As annoying as autosaves are, I leave them on. I have about 7 active chars but I try to clean out my saves for all games and limit them to only stuff I truly want to keep.

Just wondering, what kind of ps3 do you have? I have a 160gb slim and like i said, not many issues so far.

My game crashed...Throwing a rough estimate here: 1974035740326093(slightly pulled out of proportions) times. I'm an X-Box 360 user.

Even with all the crashes and whatnot, the game is epic.

Maybe Serana cannot carry items anymore, because she's carrying her limit. Try removing some items in her inventory. Or sell it all.

Clearing cache comes to mind. Prevents me from getting crashes for a few weeks.

Keeping your console on for X hours can also be a culprit.

I have no other quest for gunmar I tried that

Serana just does not carry anything anymore, she I complete empty and when I want to give her something its all grey, she only accepts stuff that has a carry weight of 0

I have ps3 250gb

I did not use the autosave because it helped with that it does not get stuck every 5 min.

so you remove also the unnecessary save games from other games?

Thank you for your answer.

I delete all unwanted game files. I only play tes games and only have my 5 oblivion characters and 7 Skyrim characters, plus any new ones I create.

that's not entirely true. I have a couple other games I play but they have only one save a piece. Nothing big.

Yeah, re-installing the game won't help anything. As you progress further into the game, get stronger, acquire more and more items, take on more and more quests, the game file gets larger and in turn, lag and bugs become more common. It's just a part of the game.

As for the bug concerning Serana's full inventory, it's a bug that really has no fix for us console users. Just drop the desired item on a safe place on the floor, command her to pick it up. She'll pick it up and problem solved.

I guess, I never carry too much inventory. I try to keep it to 50% carry load while I play. I tend to leave most of my stuff at home and only bring what I need with me. Two weapons max. i try for a realistic carry capacity.

How big is your save file?

Do you clean up weapons after fights? (This will keep down the save file size since the game has some problems cleaing it up by itself)

And even though it's wise to disable autosaves, it's also wise to keep at least a few save files, so that you have something to revert back on when you run into a bug. Reloading an older save is the fix, sometimes the only one, for most bugs.

If you dismiss Serana and hire another follower, will their inventory also be full?

I place strict restrictions on my chars. Makes it more fun for me. It is tough to stick to though.

Do you save over saves or do you pick new save when saving.
Saving over saves is really not a good thing to do.

After a fight, make sure to pick up the weapons your enemies have dropped and store them on one of the dead bodies. The bodies will disappear and the weapons with them. If not, the weapons will be lying around the game for eternity - and every dropped weapon will contribute to the size of your savefile.

One of many little tricks to keep the file size down.
