Getting attacked by hired thugs and assassins

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 9:31 am

The worst thing is that the person who supposedly contracted them seemed to be entirely unaware of the whole plot. I know it's randomly generated, but there really should be a dialogue opttion regarding the attack, otherwise it's extremely unrealistic.

Yeah I know what you mean. The orc smith in markarth sent thugs after me for accidentally picking up his smithing hammer. When I went back to see him he was as happy as ever, would've been nice if there was even just a small comment. Something like they whisper under their breath "Damn, you should be dead..." or "Those thugs were a waste of money".

Perhaps an option to accuse them of hiring thugs against you to start a brawl so you can at least get a beat down as revenge.

I've only had one hit on me from an NPC. Was a child whose parents I murdered. Damn those blasted invincible children! If I get a spare ten minutes around that way I'll go and kill their dog and put some arrows in their face just to make myself feel better

edit:

And then raise their dog from the dead and walk off with it... until it flops to the ground again and then I'll consider it job done

How are you able to tell who sent the DB after you? It doesnt mention in the notes the asassins handily carry ..?

I had thugs sent after me in Riverwood at one point. The note revealed that brat Frodnar to be the culprit... guess that was his sweet roll I yoinked.

It was humorus as the entire town backed me up as I took on the thugs.

The Dark Brotherhood has tried twice to kill me. I also had a set of mages try and kill me. The mages where hired to avenge someones dead daughter.

For some reason, I had thugs sent after me by an NPC I had not even met, when the only things I had stolen had belonged to someone else entirely, who was dead...

I guess maybe their friend wanted revenge...

The hired thugs only occur when you steal from certain NPCs, for example the inn keeper at Riverwood (Delphines husband)

The Darkbrotherhood Assassin has nothing to do with it and is a random event that happens to characters with good karma.

i've had the DB after me and somehow I can't imagine I have good karma
I steal and or kill everything worth while
which is quite a lot XD

This was when the thugs attacked me. I'm not sure if the assassin was from the Dark Brotherhood or not as he kicked my ass and the second time I just snuck around him

I'm en route to join the DB now as it happens so when I get there someone is getting their ass kicked. Admittedly it will probably be me but at the very least one member is getting stabbed multiple times

I bet it was that Whiterun bard who sent an assassin over me after I punch his face in defense of Ysolda.

I got the letter from the assassin and let it fall right in front of him and left Whiterun, when he knows his plan has failed I′ll be on my way to Windhelm to join the Stormcloaks...

No idea why there's a contract out on me but I have 3 assassin notes so far. Astrid's got some explaining to do.

I think that's cool.
So far i had Daedra quest ending unhappy peoples sending thugs, the Dark Brotherhood of course, the Thalmars for interfering their plan, people i stole from sending thugs, prisonners escorted by Imperials or Thalmars, mages hired to kill me and once bandits asking me for my cash (or stuff, don't remember).
The sad thing is that when you start the main quests the overwhelming number of random Dragon encounters simply kill the system making "humanoids" encounters very very rare.

I was a sneaky character and couldnt beat them. They seemed to follow me everywhere. Finally beat them with an enchanted sword

My character had this problem early on in Riverwood, and I couldn't figure out just what I had done. After several reloads, I used a storm atronach scroll, which took care of the problem. From the contract the thugs carried I learned that I had allegedly stolen something from the inn. I was positive I had not. I did take a fish steak from a barrel, but said food didn't have a red "steal" option. I had no way to beat them without the summon. Would have been lost if I didn't have one with me. :)
