Getting back into Fallout 3

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:37 pm

I've always played Fallout 3 to an extreme my playing patterns were usually play for a solid month, don't play for a few weeks, repeat, it's been like that since I got this game in 2008. But after roughly five months of not playing Fallout 3 I want desperately to play and enjoy it again but I simply can't. Does anybody know if there are movies or videos I could watch, mods I can download, unique location I can find, goal I can strive for, or play-styles I can try to get make back into enjoying Fallout 3?

Mods are a great way to enhance your gameplay...or destroy it depending on the mods you choose.

Here are a couple of links:

You could always try the "harcore survival mode"playthrough. Limit yourself to one or two weapons, only carry a few stimpacks, try to eat, drink, and sleep regularly, and only carry a reasonable amount of weight and ammo (don't fast travel either). I find that this type of playing really adds to the game, makes it seem fresh.

There's a mod that does most of that called Fallout Wanderer's Edition, I tried it but it wasn't my thing, I didn't like the feeling of having restrictions put on my freedom and I know that I don't have the willpower to put these imaginary restrictions on myself without breaking my own rules.

Go play New Vages?
If you really use too love this game, then that might do the trick.

I played vages for a while then for some reason I really got into Fallout 3?

I actually have and played a NCR playthrough in New Vegas, but it wasn't as good as Fallout 3 and it certainly wasn't as good as Fallout 2.

Hmm yeah, I've heard of Wanderer's Edition. I never bothered to install in though as I usually just like to put "house rule" limits on myself.

If you have a PC you could always use console commands to align yourself with a faction (Enclave, raiders, Talon company e.t.c) and roleplay as a member of them.

And if your on the Xbox you could use the mesmerizer to get all the raiders in everygreen mills on your side, then rolepay as a raider.

I'm on PC, and I have a mod that makes it so you aren't born in Vault 101 but in a shack and it allows you to pick the faction you want to join and aligns you with them.

Damn I should get this mod, could you send be a link to the place you got it, or give me a discription on how to get it?

Unfortunately Khet has since removed the mod and it's unobtainable unless he decides to put it back up. :(

Just take alook though this - http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/categories.php

Also I'm pretty sure fallout 3 wanders edition allows for a different start.

And I think there's a mod called alternate start that does it too, unless that's the same mod the guy mentioned above is talking about.

The author removed it from Nexus but an older version of it is still up http://games.softpedia.com/get/Mods-Addons/Fallout-3-Mod-Alternate-Start-Roleplayers.shtml.
