Getting Dirty

Post » Sun Aug 29, 2010 11:09 am

would you like to get dirty like if you near a volcano ash gets build up on your face at least where the opening is
also would you like your hair to grow, and actually flow getting in your face

Probably too much realism for me, certain things just aren't needed in my opinion.

Most of the "realism" stuff is here.
This is the line.
You've crossed it.

no not really, I mean if they go into the water than they should get wet but that is about as much realism as I want, they should focus on more important things like gameplay, I would rather have 5 new dungeons, then go hey look my pants got dirty

Er, what? As in the dust would only get on my face around my mouth? Because that's where the most obvious opening on my face is, see... :P

But anyway- not really, no. If they want to spend time on it for others fine, but playing in first person I'd likely never see it anyway so

Getting dirty yes, it can be easy to implement, the hair, not so much. Getting dirty is just a texture variation. The hair growing and getting messed up needs it's own algorithm.

Yes. But we also need beards to automatically grow and require shaving (for you nancies) or special "magic gel" that prevents hair from growing (for you nancies).
and dirt (blood, mud, puke, etc) should apply to clothing and armor as well.

snow, mud, blood,
u could get really messy...then tread it into your house...

but seriously it would look good on the armor and cloths, i get bloody i stay bloody, i get muddy i stay muddy. have swim clean off but be visibly wet for a bit, it would look great if ran in the rain n stuff.

Would this be a neat little eye candy feature? Sure.

However, I think development effort could be spent in far better areas.

My responses:

Getting dirty -- Yeah sure! But not too excessive.
Hair messing up -- Bethesda, I love your games and all, but DO NOT touch my do. DO NOT touch my do... :toughninja:

that would be awesome, purely superficial but it would totall make a world of difference to us role players. rich character = clean and groomed. poor character = dirty.

That means we could take baths, lol.

No thanks, that would take a while to implement, and imo would be pointless. I, and im sure many other people, never even go into 3rd person view to even see this.

No
A waste of cpu cycles. Cpu cycles that could be used adding more NPCs instead of checking how dirty/scruffy my PC was.

YES!!!!! I love waiting for my computer to render a 1 second clip once a minute. If I stitch it all together I can watch in a minute what took me an hour. :shakehead:

Could be used in Roleplaying playthroughs. And for everyone saying "Blah blah 1st person" it could also affect how people talk to you. Sort of like how if you had your sword out in OB and talked to someone they would seem angry except to a greater extent in this game since NPC's have more "Personality".

thats just plan hyperbole. it would not affect frame rate like that. there has already been an rpg in which you can get blood and stuff on your armor and it had no effect on the engine that was visible. now, if we were talking about game bryo, then yeah, it would be all kinds of buggy.
