Getting errorscrashing upon exiting Oblivion

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 1:33 am

So this has never happened before, not once, before I installed Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, but after I did install OOO, this happens EVERY time I exit Oblivion now. It's not a real big deal since it doesn't really affect anything at all, I just can't change my texture size from large to medium because I can't exit the game properly and it doens't save that I changed it, so now every time I exit, the screen goes blank, then I get the typical "We're sorry, Microsoft has encountered a problem and this program must be closed etc etc" and I can either send the bug report or not send it you know the deal.

What's causing this? I'd assume Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul because it never did it before I installed it yet now it does it every single time like clockwork. I've tested it and it indeed does it EVERY time I exit Oblivion, has happened 23 consecutive times in a row, I can't imagine that being coincidence.

I don't know how to link a load order and I've never set up a load order, but this is how they appear in my data files window:

DLCShiveringIsles.esp
Knights.esp
Oblivion.esm
DeliveranceFireEnch.esp
pale_rider's Paladin Equipment_unenchanted_eng.esp
TNR ALL RACES FINAL.esp
TNR - ShiveringIsles no helms.esp
Armored Skeletons.esp
Living Economy - Items.esp
Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esm
OOO-Level_Slow.esp
OOO-DLT_Remover.esp
OOO_Container_Trap_Instant_Effects.esp
OOO-Magic_Script_Effect_Fix.esp
OOO-Water_Weeds.esp
OOO-Map_Markers_Stock.esp
OOO-No_Guild_Ownership.esp
Harvest [Flora].esp
Harvest [Flora] - Shivering Isles.esp
Living Economy.esp
Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp
Armamentarium.esm
ArmamentariumLL4OOO.esp
ArmamentariumLLMagicOOO.esp

I just realized Oscuro's is in there twice..although I have no clue why, once as an ESP and once as an ESM. I have no clue what that means however.

I also have OBMM, and on that it says:

DarNified UI 1.3.2
Detailed_Terrain_-_Beta_II-15245
Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul COMPLETE 1.33
TNR_-_Tamriel_NPC's_Revamped_v106-16843\

All have a blue square to the left of them.

Are you using Fast Exit? Oblivion usually crashes all the time when you exit without Fast Exit.

I don't even know what "Fast Exit" is/means, is that a mod or some form of exiting the game..fast..ly?

It is probably worth your while bookmarking http://tescosi.com/wiki/Main_Page. And reading through parts of it that could be relevant (many, no doubt).

In the meantime, here is a section from it that you might find useful, about posting load orders: http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion:How_to_Post_Your_Load_Order (actually, the link to that is on the front page, but oh well).

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22410. It's an OBSE plugin.

And OOO should be there twice. ESM files are master files, and ESP files are plugin files. Essentially two different things in this case, so don't worry.

Living Economy is outdated, use Enhanced Economy instead. What version of OOO are you using?

I also suggest you run the load order through BOSS.

I didn't download Living Economy, it was apart of the OOO I DL'd. And I DL'd the latest version yesterday.

Also, I just DL'd OBSE so that I could use FastExit, I got OBSE working but where do I put this file I DL'd for FastExit at? The same place? It has two folders in it, one called Data and one called src, the data folder has another folder in it called OBSE, and in that one called Plugins, and in that one something called FastExit2.dll.

I know. It shouldn't be used however, Enhanced Economy is what you should use.

And what's the "latest version"? There are beta releases that fix a lot of stuff that generally should be used instead. What's the version number of the one you downloaded.

And the "OBSE" folder goes in your "Data" folder. Ignore the "src" folder, that's the source code.

Uninstall OOO. Reinstall it as the full version, and then install this on top of it:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15256 (1.34B5)

Don't use Living Economy or Harvest Flora. Use Enhanced Economy and the updated Harvest Flora:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25078
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2037

And are you launching Oblivion via obse_loader.exe?

I didn't launch it via obse_launcher.exe, no. I'll try that.

And I have to uninstall OOO? Sigh. That took so long. Is there a simple way to uninstall it with the click of a button? I installed it with OBMM.

There's a saying that's been floating around for quite some time on these forums. "If your game doesn't crash on exit, you're not using enough mods." It's simply a natural consequence of modding your game, and in fact it will also happen without any mods installed. Adding them just make it more likely to occur. So don't get your girdle in a knot trying to get rid of it, it's just something you're going to have to live with. As for saving your ini settings, there's a way to do that with a console command. I'm not sure what it is right now, but maybe someone will let you know.

You need to launch the game every time via obse_launcher.exe.

And right click on the OMOD in OBMM and there should be a disable/uninstall option or similar. Then re-install it, but the "full" version, then copy and paste that patch.

The command is "SaveINI" ;)

you told me to delete the 1.33 version and uninstall it, I did, but that 1.34 beta is a patch and it requires that I have 1.33 installed. I'm confused.

You need 1.33 FULL version installed, not the lite version that you have installed (i.e. without choosing any options).

Well, I didn't install the lite version I picked the full version, but it asked me if I wanted to choose certain thing still. But I'm reinstalling it now again. The 1.33 COMPLETE version. I'll install that, and then apply the patch for 1.34.

Ok I have another question, this should be the last one. I Dl'd and patched the 1.33 version of OOO, working fine, and now I have the 1.34 beta 5 patch, how do I apply it? create another OMOD? It Dl'd as a rar file and when I decompress it, it's just meshes, textures, and ESPs.

Create an OMOD if you wish. Or just manually install it.

I'm honestly just giving up at this point. I reinstalled 1.33 and then the patch (which is exactly what I had previously) and now my game is just a complete mess. I loaded up one of my characers, and just..lol. This is exactly why I try and stay away from huge mods like, I just don't get it.

How can I install 1.33 the first time, then the patch, and the game run completely fine, yet now when I did it, installed 1.33, and then the patch, ALL npc's are just walking faces. I have a huge exclamation mark on my character, and so does every other NPC. I'm bald, for no reason. All of the guards are just walking faces, with the ! over them too. None of the items that I had in my inventor are there. There's a huge ! over every door.

:banghead:

I'm just done. I appreciate your help, but I completely uninstalled OOO and removed it and I'll probably never DL it again. It's just frustrating.
