Getting Hitched

I am personally very happy with this confirmation. It is a basic gameplay option that has been up until now neglected. It will give each individual player the choice as to whether they want romance or not, if you do you can and if you don't you don't have to use the option I would like it if you could flirt with and potentially romance any woman in the game, obviously there will be key characters that will be off limits but I hope most women are up for grabs.

I would hope there is some detail involved such as having to do jobs around the house, taking your wife on dates, being able to flirt with presents....... plus the good stuff etc

I would also like it if other women might come up and flirt with you rather than you having to do the chasing all the time. Maybe a Nord chick would come up to you in a tavern and say that she wants to show you something outside :woot:

I am sure that Bethesda will do it better than Fable managed to.

I hope I can marry more than one person.

I want to have 7 wives all move in with me all at the same time :celebration: 7 beautiful redheaded Nord women

I've decided to give up hunting swords and now the first thing I'm going to do is hunt for redhead darkevles Nords :tes:
GOTY! GOTY!

I love red heads too

Wasted time that could've been used to add spears or medium armour. I'm very disappointed.

It's not "wasting time", as they weren't planning on adding those in the first place.

I wonder if your specific Race will matter with Marriage. I can't imagine an Argonian getting married to a Dark Elf, maybe I shouldn't have brought out that point.

I liked the reasoning for no Medium armor I thought that was well explained.

The only NPCs I'd even consider marrying would be Vivec or Almalexia. Or one of the Prince(sses) of the Daedra.

Or do you think the marriage system will be limited to single-gendered mortals with definable physical forms?

Hope not, had my eye on Hermaeus Mora for quite a while now.

They could've, had they not added marriage.

They did. So the roleplayers who confuse real life with visual life can get pleased. Core mechanics like long-melee ranged combat and medium armor for more movement/armor variety had to be out.

Dude do you have a real girlfriend?
Real girls are always nagging, and you always gotta please them, and when you do something slightly stupid you'll hear about it for the rest of your life.
Now "visual girls" only have a few lines recorded and at the end of the day you can turn off the game and you dont have to sleep next to it.

...Waits for GF to read this :obliviongate: *shudders*

Or you can be a man and set things straight, and you know, you won't have the whining all day. Anyway, marriage = crap for a game. I stand by my opinion.

I think this will be an interesting addition. If anything, it will just be another gameplay style. Getting settled down in a town with your wife or husband would kind of force you to become more part of a town or get more involved in town life. But I also think it would be cool to get a cottage in the countryside and live happily married there. Go hunting every day for food and provide. Just things like this adds something totally worth messing around with and opens up many interesting gameplay possibilities. Best thing is you don't have to, so if you think its stupid or weird you can just adventure like any other dragonborn. I'll definitely have a character to get married and settle down with, and another one who just likes the violence. But of course with the elder scrolls, there are always exceptions! Like if you married someone in the dark brotherhood and happily killed innocent people together haha.

As for kids, I'm all for it as long as the timeline doesn't get all screwed up. Like you'd have to wait months of game time to have a child. I just don't want a jumbled confusing timeline like Assassin's Creed of Fable where you know time is passing but you don't know how fast. At least with the elder scrolls, you know fourty five minutes or whatever is a game day, and you can wait or rest without it messing everything up with the timeline. But of course i'm cool if they don't add kids.

As for same six marriage, I think it would be cool and worth messing around with. I just don't want Bethesda to go so politically correct that they bypass the whole culture of the game by making every other person in the game homosixual. Pretty much what fable 2 and 3 did. Its not that I don't like homosixuals, I just know that there are less of them than heterosixuals no matter what way you put it. I'm fine with there being a specific romantic speech option to anyone in the game where you could ask if they are interested, and say if you are a dude and the other guy is a dude and the disposition is high enough, even though before that he would not have told you he was gay, he would be after you activated that speech option.

Well, while I respect your opinion, there are many who think differently. And besides, you don't have to get married.

There are no homosixual nords. That would be Altmers and Argonians.

My male Altmer, probably won't, but that's just backstory reasons. Unless there is some sort of benefit of marriage or if I decide to change his backstory (which happens a LOT).

Oh, and same six marriages WILL be in the game. They'll get 50 billion complaints otherwise.

Not necessarily. If for some reason the culture of Skyrim looked down upon same six marriage, then that's the way it'd be. Same six marriage is still a new concept for the majority of the world :P

Shame I don't like lizards or stuck-up altmers, although the Bosmer always struck me as "open to new experiences" :hubbahubba:
