I'm not against the idea, but I think we should consider if the Nordic culture would condone it.

Not really, homosixuality is more or less tolerated if not accepted in the Elder Scrolls universe.

As far as I know, no group in Tamriel is against homosixuality. There have been few instances of it occurring in-game, but I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd also like to add to this discussion: what do you guys think the Nordic marriage ceremony would be like? Certainly not tuxedos and white dresses.

It will be intersting to see how marriages between different races, especially the beast races will be treated by NPCs in-game.

Is there a history within the lore of, for example, Argonians and Khajit marrying non beast races?

If racism or xenophobia is some prominent story element within the game, how will some of those cranky old Nord NPCs react to a Nord marrying a Dunmer, or an Argonian, for example?

I think there is, just no known pregnancies with the Beast races with anyone other than their own race, despite Men and Mer being able to breed easily, the baby taking the mother's race.

Do you think they have included same six marriage?

More than likely IMO. The waters been tread well already by various other big RPGs and no ones gone up in flames over it.

Though Im not sure how theyd handle it. It would just be weird if EVERY NPC can be married and can be gay/strait/bi. Maybe just make the Falmer homosixual?

There are alleged children from men/mer and beast race unions, just none that are well documented.

As I said in the other thread. I hope that they are specific NPC's we can romance with some personality developed for them rather than a Fabel-esque, "you look quite attractive, let's virtually shack up." without any sort of personality or longevity to them.

It's probably like in the Dragon Age universe, they think it's just a quirk of character or something. Not against it, nor for it necessarily. It's just not an issue.

And about the ceremony, who's going to officiate it? Some Nine Divine priest? I'm not having that. Daedra over Aedra any day of the week. And I doubt they'll have us dress up.

I'm glad they are including more involved relationships. That personal touch was something I always felt was missing in TES. Now here's to hoping it is a more complex system than doing a few emotes and then marriage ala Fable.

No, in this game, you just bribe them till their disposition is maxed and they agree to sign a mating contract.

I love the idea but I can see some problems occuring.

1. Is Beth going to allow S/S or will it just be M/F. That's the main problem if you have this feature then you must accommodate or else you'll have some people start a thread and complain about it. Thankfully you can't do a petition but if someone does a poll and the results are in the favor for S/S then it may be implemented. S/S could also bring up some Controversey's in other countries so don't expect to find Skyrim in places that oppose S/S in a big way outside of speech. I'm neutral and I really won't complain what direction Beth takes on S/S.

2. How far is this feature going to go, will it go the Fable route or will it be similar to Oblivion where your Partner sleeps in the same bed but nothing happens.

3. Could Radiant AI allow your Partner to cheat on you depending on what you have done in the world.

Other then that knock your self out.

I completely agree, and I hope the devs at Bethesda do as well.

I also hope we can have these sorts of friendships/romances with important story characters, or at least minor faction characters.
