Getting Knocked into Orbit by Giants...Was that intentional

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 12:19 am

Now, this may have seemed like a glitch early on in some cases, but it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME to ANYTHING smaller than a Dragon. In its defense, it IS funny and entertaining, and for some reason, doesn't really break the flow or immersion of the game. So I'm left to wonder, did Bethesda do this purposefully? Or was it a glitch they decided to leave in because of how entertaining it was? Or will it be fixed with the next patch? And if it is fixed, will you be disappointed, like I would be? =[

There are certain ores and herbal roots that can only be found by impacting the ground from a great height. My advice: Go for a high ballistic arc, rather than a flat line-drive.

I think it's awesome! Makes giants feel very strong.

It was probably this. There's no way the testers could have missed that, it happens every time.

I just hope Bethesda never patches it.

It's stopped happening to me, actually. A power-hit from a giant does about 1/5 of my health and staggers me a bit that's all. It glitched me in the beginning but after like level 25 it stopped.

I'm level 28, and it still happens, but only when the blow kills me. It'll, like you said, take 1/5 of my health when its full, but if the blow it deals to you is a killing blow, then I'm 100% sure you go to the moon.

I've taken on several giants. I've been killed a few times. Not once have I been launched into orbit, so I don't think it was intentional.

This has happened to me, and I didn't like it. If it was fixed, then I would be glad. It is just too much of an immersion breaker for me.

Giants used to do that to me, now they don't. I take on giants all the time.

Its a glitch with the SetScale effect on the Giants and the removal of attributes. Been some discussion in the Mod forums about it.

Bethesda gave an interview a while back where they said there were a few glitches that were so funny they would leave them in, I surmise this is an example of what they were referring to...

I think they actually meant to do this because there is some code in the game that flies an enemy back proportionally to the amount of overkill
