Hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone could help explain something to me.

So originally I understood that dragons that respawned at dragon lairs would not give you souls once defeated, though they do yield loot when you kill them. However, nowadays it seems that I do occasionally get dragon souls when I defeat dragons that have respawned at the dragon lairs. It's not guaranteed to happen one way or another. Sometimes I get souls, sometimes I don't, and I was hoping that someone could tell me why.

Yea from what I've gather its completely random if they give you souls or not.

are the dragons in question perched on the word walls? or do you fast travel in and they are already in flight?

Why wouldn't they give souls ?

No clue but it doesn't matter if they are perched or not sometimes they won't give souls.

Perched on the walls, with the exceptions of the dragon at the word wall in the Reach (who always is lying on the ground at first), the dragon at Arcwind Point (who is perched on something else) and the the dragon that flies about its lair near the border of Whiterun and the Reach.
