Getting poisoned, never happens?

Post » Mon Dec 28, 2009 9:08 pm

In short I never seem to get poisoned. Radscorps or whatever damage me but I dont get any indicator that I am poisoned.
Is enemy poison implemented?
Have I just missed it in the gneral mayhem?
Or am I just lucky (I do my best to not get hit at all!) :gun:

I've also never gotten poisoned in my many hours of play. I've even stopped carrying around the antidote to poison since it never seems to happen.

If you take on a large number of cazadores you should get the opportunity to use anti-venom :)

Run into a group of Cazadores and you'll know about needing antivenom.

If you are being hurt by radscorpions or cazadore then I'm pretty sure you are being poisoned. In combat it will just look like you are being hit and hurt. If you go into your pipboy after being hit, look at your 'Effects' section, under your Condition somewhere. It will show your buffs etc, and also show that you're poisoned. Poison is damage over time, and will go away on its own, but not before doing a bunch more damage. You can stop it in it's tracks right there by going to Aid and using the anti-venom. You probably can survive a bit of poisoning, but after a few hits it'll kill you, even after you kill the 'bug'.

I believe the only radscorpiion that poisons is the Bark Radscorpion. You will know it when you do get poisoned. First a message appears saying something like "you feel queezy" and your health bar starts to go down despite eating, drinking, stimpaks, etc. You;ll also see your vision blur momentarily. It's not fun. Anti-venom is a very good thing at lower levels especially.

Bark Scorpions aren't radscorpions. I have definitely been poisoned by them, not sure of Radscorpions though.

I've only been poisoned by cazadors, so far. The bark scorpions are a lot easier to kill! But I have tons of anti-venom and always take it anyway, just to be safe.

All the Scorpions and Cazandors can poison you. When it happens it can easily mean the difference between survival and death, especially on hardcoe.

I get poisoned regularly. End might have something to do with it. I usually have it between 4 to 6, and rely on DT, avoidance, sniping, or grotesque alpha-damage to keep my HP up. Med-X and Slasher in a pinch.

But I try not to go anywhere at all without two doses of antivenom on me. Nothing worse than using a dose to cure scorp poison, and then getting bloody cazador poison right afterwards. That happened enough times that I set my two-dose policy.

I don't fight radscorpions a lot, but the giant ones apply their poison on nearly every sting against me. >_<

I suppose it depends on difficulty, combat style and such. Poison is definitely in the game as many have mentioned, Unarmed/Melee vs Cazadors will almost certainly get you poisoned.

I've been poisoned by the large Rad Scorpions and Cazandors :cryvaultboy: but I'm surprised enemies that use melee weapons especially the Legion boys don't use poison though  I think it would be cool if they did

It does seem as if it's harder to get poisoned than in Fallout 3. My recent two builds I've been pretty much minimizing END. (2 or 3), mixed with hardcoe and Extra-Hard. The only real threats have been Deathclaws and Cazadors. (And RadScorpions VERY early on)

I think in 3 builds, I've only had to use Antivenom ONCE. Given, I also haven't done a melee build, so very few things have gotten close enough to poison my char builds in the first place

Note: poisoning is cumulative, that is, you can have multiple doses of poison active at one time. Luckily you only need one anti-venom to cancel it. Max for me has been 3, I think. It wears off, after a while, so if you've stocked up on food and are in a safe place, you can keep eating stuff until it's worn off, and save the anti-venom for emergencies.

I get poisoned all the time, but then I tend to have low combat skills for quite a while which means critters have more opportunities to apply it. Sure, I go through a lot of anti-venom, but that just adds to the 'survivalist' aspect of play since I have to be careful about picking fights with poison-users until I'm in a position to not worry about getting swarmed and stung to death.

I got mobbed by cazadors once idk how many times I got poisoned in that one instance but I distinctly remember stim-packing myself to full health (this was on my 1st playthrough on normal) after most of the cazadors were dead and dying only seconds later just from the poison effects. Cazador poison (especially when stacked) is lethal...
