Getting rid of Shadowmere

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 9:16 am

I'm playing a stealth character, and find horses just as much a PITA as in real life. I'm sick of it turning up, even when I'm not riding it, everywhere I fast travel too.

They break the stealthiness of my character - no more fast traveling into an area in Sneak. Now, there's a giant, useless mammal announce your arrival. Stealth character? Sorry, buddy! Better learn to fight like a night reeeal fast! At the very least, their presence breaks the Sneak icon. Any, like every other mentally incompetent NPC, they get in the way of my arrows.

Any way to ditch this walking hunk of glue ingredients, permanently?

if you ride it off a cliff high enough without killing yourself in the process it should die.

If you run off a small cliff (enough to kill a horse, but not you), Shadowmere will die. If Shadowmere dies on the PC version of Skyrim, a new one can be spawned at the player's location by using the console command (without quotes) "player.placeatme 0009CCD7". The console is accessed by pressing ~.

I don't have shadowmere yet so I have not tested it myself. Give it a try. Only thing to lose is an annoying horse right?

If youre on PC you might be able to kill it in the console. That is all the information I can provide because I do not know the command.

Tested and it does work, i found this out by accident. If you ride or jump shadowmere of a large cliff, she will die and no longer be an annoyance to you.

I had to use the above console command to get her back.

If you're on PC, open console, click on Shadowmere, type in "disable", press enter, problem fixed.
