Getting Serana to not wear that hood of hers

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 1:26 pm

I just found out how to keep Serana from equipping that hood of hers outdoors. I equipped her with some Legendary Darwnguard light armor and a copper and ruby circlet (it goes well with her eyes and hair). After that she doesn't put the hood on anymore. If I remove the armor, OTOH, on goes the hood.

Thought this might help some folk that wanted her to not wear the hood all the time.

Interesting, does she still wear the hood even after curing her?

Also, if anyone didn't know this, her hood is the only hood in the game that looks like that, that will not make the player look bald if they are a male vampire. Even though her hood uses the same model as the guildmaster hood, thieves guild hood, and Linwe's hood (which also make a male vampire look bald)

Don't know, haven't got that far on this walkthrough. On previous walkthroughs I saw her wearing the hood and complaining about the sun even after curing herself.

I gave her the Diadem of th Savant from Labrynthian, since it helps with her magic as well

If you give Serana other armor to wear while her hood is off the hood will remain off - no matter what other stuff you give her to wear - night or day.

Take her Vamp armor from her when she equips the new stuff.

This logic must work in reverse, somehow, because now I can't get her to take her hood off, inside or out. I just continued from my last save and went to Castle Volkihar to fight Harkon and she's got the hood back on. I tried taking her armor away then giving it back, but that didn't work. Maybe I should take her armor away, exit her cell, then come back and give it back to her.

For me it was time of day that did it. In daylight I gave her gear and she wouldnt get rid of the hood, but was fine again later when it was dark and I gave her more varied gear. After that the hood didnt show again. Funnily enough she has a penchant for axe's in my game.

According to the uesp wiki, she has the hack and slash perk. So I gave her a dragon bone axe. I also made sure that she didn't have any magicka improving gear so she will switch to melee mode more quickly. She does one bang up job with that axe. She also likes that crossbow when we are fighting dragons. (I picked her up at level 44, so she no doubt has some pretty good stats.)

I just dumped a load of various magical gear on her and let her choose what she wanted and took back the rest. She has a destro circlet, ancient falmer armor, a glass axe of flames and a bad attitude. :D

How does she look in that Ancient Falmer Armor? I wouldn't think white would be her color. Besides, I wanted that for myself.

I wanted to give her some Legendary Royal Vampire Armor, but she won't equip it. I am guessing because it has the same base rating as what she is already wearing. Which is odd since other followers will equip an improved version of what they are already wearing.

We look great together, she wears a silver destro criclet with white ancient falmer armor and it looks good on her, and I wear the Ebony Mail with ebony gauntlets and boots with a silver resto circlet. Its a great contrast of armor styles and looks "the bomb" as they say.

You should see Jordis in Foresworn gear. You'll never want to travel with anyone else.

It does work in reverse too, if you trade armor with her while the hood is on she never takes it off again, day or night.

I used to be married with Jordis like you. But then I took dat smart A.I. in the knee. It made NPCs look like robots! It's a new beginning I tell you!

I put Serana in the Savior hide... That suits her very nicely. For some reason I didn't like the Forsworn gear on her. Aela otoh, I liked her in Forsworn, but now she is my twin in Dragonscale.

Forsworn??? *tries laboriously to prevent suicide*

Do... do someone have some taste in design/fashion? She is perfect as she is. That hood, there's no logical point of removing it because she is a vampire and makes her look dark as she should look.

If you want more go watch Xena.

Well, she is cured now in my game. I agree that her original outfit is fine, It's different from the norm in the game, but hey we can try different things. I frankly wanted to see her use the royal vamp armor, but she does not. Its interesting to see what she will use equip.

As to the Forsworn - I agree it is extreme. On a savage it is fine. Actually a werewolf I can see as well, but the "helmet" that looks ridiculous.

The savior's hide is a bit more "fasionable" - I may give that to els instead, but I have already given her some darn good gear, and it would be a step down....

I have to agree, Foresworn gear does not suit Serana. Too bad you can't get a hold of Nocturnal's outfit. I'm guessin Serana would look very nice in that.
