Getting Skyrim for my birthday!

Post » Fri Apr 05, 2013 4:45 am

I'll be playing on the Xbox 360 to start with no DLC, I will get them soon enough. I played Oblivion and all DLC for a billion hours. I've even played Morrowind and Daggerfall very briefly. Oblivion was my favorite game of all time, then I moved to Fallout 3. Next I played Fallout 1 & 2 all the way through and Finally Fallout NV, this game is now my favorite game ever and has changed my mind so that I'm now a bigger fan of the Fallout franchise than the Elder Scrolls which I thought not possible. It's been soooo long now since my days of Oblivion I don't know what to expect. I am stoked, I just have some random questions for you guys, mostly just opinion questions.

1. Besides graphics and fixed enemy leveling, do you consider it a vast improvement over Oblivion?

2. I've heard of the removal of spell making, which svcks, what is the general consensus as far as disappointment of the game? I mean what is considered the biggest disappointment?

3. Out of warrior, mage, and assassin, which is now better (improved)? Which is worse (degraded)?

4. I read that there are STILL leveled rewards/items (which I cannot believe) is it best that I hold off on quests to get the max reward like I did in Oblivion? (I don't like this)

5. Any major non-spoiler things I should know before starting as not to ruin my first character?

6. Will I be let down coming from FO:NV to Skyrim?

7. Besides Dark Brotherhood, are there plenty of things to do for an evil character?

8. Do you think it could win me back over to the Elder Scrolls side? :)

All of this is best to figure out for yourself.

First times should be surprising.

1. Besides graphics and fixed enemy leveling, do you consider it a vast improvement over Oblivion?.
This is very much subjective. I personally prefer Oblivion, but most people like Skyrim more.
2. I've heard of the removal of spell making, which svcks, what is the general consensus as far as disappointment of the game? I mean what is considered the biggest disappointment?
Hm. I dunno. A lot of people don't like the guild quest lines.
3. Out of warrior, mage, and assassin, which is now better (improved)? Which is worse (degraded)?
If you're a pure destruction mage, it can get very difficult at higher levels. Playing a thief is super easy. A warrior is pretty much the same.
4. I read that there are STILL leveled rewards/items (which I cannot believe) is it best that I hold off on quests to get the max reward like I did in Oblivion? (I don't like this)
Yes, but this is counter-acted by allowing weapons and armor to be improved at smithing benches.
5. Any major non-spoiler things I should know before starting as not to ruin my first character?
Not that I can think of. Just play it slow, and don't rush.
6. Will I be let down coming from FO:NV to Skyrim?
Depends on what you're expecting. FO:NV in my opinion had a much better story, but it's not nearly as smooth as Skyrim. Faction alliances aren't nearly as important as in NV.

7. Besides Dark Brotherhood, are there plenty of things to do for an evil character?
Sort of. If you get Dawnguard, I believe so. You coul
8. Do you think it could win me back over to the Elder Scrolls side?
All the Elder Scrolls are pretty different, so hopefully. What Skyrim lacks in depth, it makes up for in grandeur.
My response in red.

Yes.

2. I've heard of the removal of spell making, which svcks, what is the general consensus as far as disappointment of the game? I mean what is considered the biggest disappointment?
A bad developer's choice, indeed.

3. Out of warrior, mage, and assassin, which is now better (improved)? Which is worse (degraded)?
Very trivial, for sure. I'd say the mage took the worst hit. Still, a fun way to play.

4. I read that there are STILL leveled rewards/items (which I cannot believe) is it best that I hold off on quests to get the max reward like I did in Oblivion? (I don't like this)
Yes they are. Sad, I know. Honestly, I just sell them for money or keep them as a trophy. One can actually craft better items.

5. Any major non-spoiler things I should know before starting as not to ruin my first character?
No...The best advice for starting out. Avoid this forum and the UESP like the plague and just...play.

6. Will I be let down coming from FO:NV to Skyrim?
Too hard of a question to answer. If you are expecting the dialog choice and concupiscence of FO, then you will be sadly disappointed.

7. Besides Dark Brotherhood, are there plenty of things to do for an evil character?
It's not going to openly give it to you. You just need to address every action in asking yourself..."What would my character do?"

8. Do you think it could win me back over to the Elder Scrolls side?
I adore bot FO and TES. Each for different reasons. Look at them for what they are and not for what they aren't. If you start comparing the impressive qualities and look for those in the other game, you will end up very sad and not playing either.

In your number 4 response, do you mean that I can smith the leveled items to improve them to what they would have been if I got them at a high level?

Yeah, I believe so, as long as you have the required skill and materials.

In our opinion, you're even too lazy to read our answers, so...:bunny:

Look at the positive side, we've got a low quality brunello '95 wine and a lady gaga cd for our latest birthday :bunny:

No need to find answers on the net, believe us :bunny:
