"The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be."
To be more specific, I feel as though we, as a community, are religiously clinging to the ideological image of a game that is Crysis 1, Wars, and Warhead, and that it is stifling any direction in which Crytek evolves. I feel that this ardent devotion, while it may seem like a good trait at first, is actually a bad thing. I'm going to sum up my thoughts, and develop some counter arguments, and I want to dialogue over this.
My Thoughts
1. I feel the nostalgia for Crysis 1, Wars, and Warhead leads to tedious attention to non-substantial detail. This attention makes way for intricate comparison to anything Crysis 3 related. If any of this tedious detail does not make way in Crysis 3 in some manifestation, our belief is that it is a horrible thing and a misfeature of Crysis 3. This stems from our belief that Crysis 1, Wars, and Warhead are the ideological game. I believe that that belief is a bad one for the evolvement of Crysis as a franchise.
2. It is my belief that the somewhat sloppy release and massive differences (I very specifically use the word difference here) when comparing to Crysis 1, of Crysis 2, has lead to a hyper-sensitive criticism towards anything newly released by Crytek. Due to our feeling of being "let down" from Crysis 2, we are SUPER critical of anything that does not meet our every single desire, while completely ignoring new features. I think we need to shake ourselves of this sensitivity as it is also stifling the development of Crysis 3 for us.
3. You may think that Crytek owes you something because you, as a group, were responsible for making them popular. You may feel that this payment should be delivered in a way that means releasing a game that is to your satisfaction. It is my belief that Crytek owes you nothing, and this goes for every developer. Yes of course, the money comes from us, but it is by complete and utter grace that they even decide to develop the game for us. Their mission is to create a wholly immersive game and all we have to do, is sit here, pay for it, and enjoy it. That does not give us inherit right to demand consistency.
4. Those whom are nostalgic for the older games need to check what they desire in a game. You need to ask yourselves, if I had full control of Crytek, how would I direct them in development of Crysis 3? It is my belief that this question is going to be hard to answer specifically and not generally. If you release a game that is too similar to Crysis 1, it seems as a re-textured version of the same thing. If you release a game that is too different, you are damned for crossing your community. There is a point between consistency and change that rests upon the tip of a knife that satisfies us, and it is VERY difficult to hit that point exactly. We should be patient with Crytek to work towards that point even when they don't hit it exactly initially. We are a very hard community to please.
Counter Arguments
1. That feature was in Crysis 1, therefore it is good, because Crysis 1 was successful .
This kind of argument is an associative fallacy and has no place in logical debate.
2. I like that feature, and if it's not in Crysis 3, then Crysis 3 is bad.
This kind of argument is subjective. It is based on your opinion and not objective or quantifiable. The developer has no measurable scale for the whole of humanity for "fun" and this kind of argument is to be avoided.
3. The majority of people here desire for this feature to exist in this game, therefore it should.
Where did you get majority from? The majority of Crysis 1, Wars, Warhead, and 2 owners don't even peruse these forums and other Crysis related forums. Remember, often times the minority are the ones' with the loudest voices so it may seem that they are in majority when they are most definitely not.
4. I didn't like Crysis 2, and Crysis 3 looks like Crysis 2 from the videos I've seen, therefore I do not like Crysis 3.
Have you play tested the release build of Crysis 3? Oh, you haven't? K.
Conclusion
The point of this thread is to not enrage anyone. It is to see if other people are feeling the same way as me. If you are feeling the same way as me, say so! If not, say so! The point of a forum is to communicate your ideas back and forth for the benefit of all. You guys are awesome, let's see if I'm the only crazy one.
Love,

P.S. As always, I write very specifically. If you have an argument to make, please make sure you are not misquoting me, or misunderstanding me. Please keep everything relevant, and not emotionally, or fallaciously influenced.
