Thing is, only those words are available for translation. So unless what you want to write use these words, you're pretty much screwed.
Or maybe if you don't write in dragon tongue but in English with dragon alphabet, in that case the sentence will make no sense at all.
Anyway good luck with that but I really suggest you to pick a real language with a complete dictionary.
Try Sumerian for example. Some historians propose official translations on internet, at low price.

Go for it buddy. Forget the people trying to tell you it's stupid or whatever. You have one life, live it. A tattoo is something that means something to someone. It also has to be something that you enjoy looking at. This guy can't be faulted for wanting both. So what if it's from a video game? I'm about to get a cheerleader tattooed on me and there are many people who think, oh, that's meaningless/is just from a comic book/she'll regret it. Just because YOU don't get it doesn't mean it's meaningless or regrettable to that person.
This post isn't that helpful, I just think it's actually pretty cool getting a tatt in a language that isn't "real" so to speak. It's different, it's individual, and that's what a tattoo should be.

*EDIT* PS, if you do go for an actual language, get the word clarified many times over. The last thing you want is something you think says family when it actually says something completely different.

That's awesome, can't help you though just thought I'd express my approval
oh i am getting it, i have tattoos of games already, i am 22 will i regret in 50 years i don't know, in 50 years i won't care about a tattoo, i'll be dead, i have look a other language for hours, Norse, Greek, Spanish, Egyptian and many more, they all look bad and have no meaning to me, what makes this language any different for a real one, as long as it means family 'ill be happy, i think that if i get it in another language i'll regret it for the rest of my life, i have thought about it for days and have made up my mind.

It's his body and his life. Who are you to call him a moron?

Not trying to be mean, but I'm just saying you were being pretty harsh for little reason.
thanks, i bet the people that tell me not to get don't even have a tattoo, i guest that they don't know that you don't get a tattoo for people and you don't care what they think, you get a tattoo because it means something to you and you get it for yourself and no one else, but i won't get it if i can't get it done right, it has to mean family.

Yeah you wont regret this at all...

Your choice but you should take alot more time especially when its kinda meaningless tattoo, its a game tattoo, games arent meaningfull, unless skyrim somehow saves your life/family/marriage (if married).

Given that the dragon alphabet maps to specific sounds rather than to specific letters, I'm not sure it matters about having letters for I and Y. Taking the guide linked to earlier, I'd say "family" could be represented with the characters for "FAMeiLii". You could also go with KiiN, which is presubably the part of "DOVahKiiN" which means born, and I assume is derived from the English word "kin", which means family. Or, perhaps, depending on whether it sounds right, you could do something with your surname. If your name is Jones, for example, you could get JONESKiiN, which presumably would mean "Jones-born" or "of the Jones family".

That said, since I've not been following Skyrim, this is the first time I've seen the dragon language and it looks really lazily cobbled together. Video game languages usually are :( Also I reflect the earlier poster's sentiment that it's also a fairly ugly language. But whatever man, it's your body.

Your choice but you should take alot more time especially when its kinda meaningless tattoo, its a game tattoo, games arent meaningfull, unless skyrim somehow saves your life/family/marriage (if married).

That's a ridiculous thing to say. Games mean a lot to a lot of people, which is why there are so many game-related tattoos out there...

i think with all with everyone as a little regret when they get a tattoo, that doesn't mean you are going going to hate it, some times i look at a tattoo and i do regret it a little, but then i just think want id the reason i got it in the first place and i just smile because i always get that has meaning to me, if i can get the word done and spelled correctly it would be amazing, it going to have two meanings, Family write in the language that were created by Fav Devs, also i am a gamer, all my life and i will die a gamer, gaming is part of my life getting a tattoo for a game i love and that i spend many hours with makes me happy.

I've never even slightly regretted my tattoo, and I wont get any more until I can be fairly sure that'll be the case for them, too...

thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard, games aren't meaningless, well some are, but games like TES are games that are made for years with they devs putting they hearts and souls into making it, most marriages don't even last as long as it took to make a TES game.

"lol halo is cool so I got a USMC tattoo" Thats meaningful...
"I like portal so portal tatoo" Another meaningull lifelong choice.

Yes yes they are, antyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot. Its entertainment, nothing more, no meaning, unless you get meaning from that time I killed some ghouls in Fallout and helped the enclave.

If a marriage takes about 4 years to collapse then ou live in a really svcky place.

Games are meaningless "dad why have you got that tattoo" "well son its from a game where I fight dragons and save the world..."

The dumbest thing I have heared is thinking you can have a meaningful game tattoo, aside from that couple who got married after meeting on halo, ther is no [censored] reason. How is skyrim meaningful to you ?
1 good reason ? Oh right, its not even out yet so it has no meaning other than "I think it looks cool".

Meh, it's better than the stupid crap most girls get: butterflies, stars, sparrows, flowers, etc.

If you watch a few episodes of LA Ink, you'll soon find that getting game font isn't the worst or most embarrassing thing out there.

"Like... I'm gonna get a tiger... fighting a--get this--dragon. It, like, totally symbolizes my, like, life. And, like, how I overcame... like, stuff. It totally means, like, a lot to me."

If you don't like tattoos then why post?

OP: I have not been paying attention to Skyrim or the dragon language but may I suggest finding if the people who created it are members here and sending a PM or sending GStaff a PM and see if he can pass it along, see if they can write it out for you?

Right because it looks "cool" its meaningful. Your body, ruin it as you wish.
Oh and the "X is meaningless" yes it is, dosent make yours any better.

Did I say I dont like tattoos ?
I dont like meaningless ones that people have for no reason other than "it looks cool" which is exactly what this case is, the game has no meaning, its not a real language, just looks.

If a tattoo is meaningful great have it, other than that its a symbol of pointlessness and stupidity, becuase your permanently putting something there becuase it looks nice, your views change, and it wont always look that, way.

how is the word family meaningless, and i am not getting it because it looks cool, i did read about the work that when in to creating the language, i guest you haven't, and why would i get it in Norse or any other language, i am not Norse, Greek or Egyptian why would i get a language tattooed on me that as no meaning to me, just because it doesn't have to you doesn't mean it doesn't have meaning to me, you are wasting my time and spamming the thread.

Seriously? How about we get off of our high horse here and stop judging other people. Just because you don't find any meaning to X thing doesn't mean someone else can't. As long as the tattoo means something to him then that's all that matters. What we think about his tattoo is entirely irrelevant to this thread and his question.

Now then, as others have said there is no single I or a Y in the dragon language. If you are choosing the dragon language because of TES then http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Daedric_Alphabet is another viable option for you.

I agree that a tattoo is something that deserves to be considered with due care and attention, though how you can dictate what is and what isn't meaningful to anyone but yourself is ridiculous.

You are not looking at the meaning, you are stuck on the fact that he wants to use a language from a game, that is not the meaning, the tat is in honor of his family, if that has no meaning then please enlighten me as to what kind of tat could possibly have any meaning.

Exactly! I'm personally planning on getting quite a few video game related tattoos. Why? Because certain video games and their characters have meaning to me.

Also, to weedlink: The Daedra aren't demons. They just did not participate in the creation of Nirn. :)

Edit* thought some of them could be considered "evil" I suppose...
