Getting teared up

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:57 am

I suppose emotional pull is a good aspect for a VG, but I was listening to GNR and heard 3dog discuss my exploits in Grayditch - when he finishes with "Good Job 101" I began tearing up a bit. Anyone have an emotional experience in FO?

What the hell? What a nancy.

The writing is far too bad in FO3 to ever experience an emotion.

Liberty Prime getting destroyed. And probably watching a friendly Yao Guai get killed by a group of Talon Company Mercs I was running away from.

Yep i have the perk friends of animals and it is a sad moment when a friendly animal gets killed saving my butt. Has anybody heard of a way where you could drop an item for a dog or yao guai to eat like ant meat, or something like that. If there was i definatly would have liked to help or heal the occasional animal that has helped me.

I was out in the wastes one day and ran across a few raiders one had a rocket launcher and was giving me a rough time, to the point i thought i was restarting, out of nowhere comes this yao guai. It came up from behind the raider and put some spank on him, unfortunatly the raider killed the yao guai but it was the break i needed to set up a shot to kill the raider. Felt a bit sad about that.

I have been freaked out a few times creeping around looking for a good angle on some one who needs to be made dead. All the sudden i hear breathing in my head phones, i turn and there is some dog hiding in the bushes right next to me. It is a "jesus dude you scared the crap outta me" moment, i want to say "run along now you want no part of the crap i am start, and i would feel bad if you got caught in the cross fire".

When 3 dog calls me a Scumbag for killing Roy I get very emotional and vote for a DJ change with my Terrible Shotgun.

I got sad watching the Mr.Handy read the dead little kid "There will come soft rains".

Definitely this, its a great touch to put in a game like this.

Also any time Dogmeat or Charon dies. Both have been with me so long, and been on so many adventures, that they are part of my Fallout experience. So when an Albino or a Reaver proves too be a little too much of a challenge, and I'm not quick enough to save them, its never nice to see them lying dead on the floor. :(

Bear kills two Hizbul infiltrators in cave

SRINAGAR: It seems these are the worst of times to be a militant in Kashmir. First, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was axed to death by a teenage girl in Rajouri roughly a month ago. Now, a bear has mauled two Hizbul Mujahideen militants to death as they hid in its cave in Shopian, South Kashmir.

According to defence spokesman Lt Col J S Brar, the two commanders dared to colonise a bear's cave at Darwal Nar in Pir Panjal in Shopian and paid for it with their lives. For, late on Sunday night, as the two slept, the bear came calling.

"It attacked the armed militants and killed them on the spot," Brar said.

It was only on Monday morning that an Army patrol party saw two bodies inside the cave and, on frisking through their clothes, found that they were Hizbul Mujahideen commanders.

Medical examinations revealed that the two were mauled to death by a bear. The two were identified as Kaisar Ahmad and Saifullah, both residents of Kashmir, the spokesman said.

''Two Ak 47 rifles and some ammunition were recovered from the spot,'' he added. This is the first known instance in last 20 years of insurgency in J&K of a wild animal attacking and killing militants, who have their hideouts mostly in dense forests or on mountain ranges. :celebration:

Go, bear!

Yeah, I get angry about some of the stuff Three-Dog says. Like when I was being attacked by ferals, and then Roy and his followers turned on me too (though I didn't fire at anyone, even the ferals). So I killed them all, and ol' Three Doggie made it out like I'd done something wrong.

Or when I left Bryan in his own house with new clothes, a fridge full of food, and tons of medicine, toys, and other stuff and Three-Dog said I "left the kid to rot in a fallout shelter".

Still, nothing Three-doggie says comes close to that robot reading the poem. That is the one time in my life a video game has actually brought me to tears.

I never use companions, so everytime I pass Vault 101, and Dogmeat is just sitting there waiting for someone who is never going to show up, I die a little on the inside.

I've heard that if you own a house, you can leave Dogmeat there instaed, making him essentially a pet rather than a companion.

The first time I went to Minefield when I played the game on release day, I got there about my third day into playing the game and saw the skeletons on the beds, that got to me and I had to take a breather for a couple of days.

After that was the family home area and hearing the Mr. Handy reading, I just listened and didn't want to move at all because it felt wrong of me to interrupt. Recently in an evil playthrough when I killed Billy Creel and Maggie commented on his being dead, I felt rotten for what I had done.

When I completed the game on my fourth attempt and got the ending for being good and kind, the picture at the end was powerful for me, I had come to care about my character a lot.

It takes a lot to make me cry, strong emotional control and so on, but those moments almost had me in tears. I hope New Vegas will have moments that are emotionally powerful.

I know exactly what you mean...

"The wasteland proved a cruel, inhospitable place, but the lone wanderer refused to give in to the vices that had claimed so many others. The values that had been passed down from father to child... compassion, selflessness, and honor... guided this noble soul through countless trials and triumphs."

I will say that having a radiation-proof follower who refuses to start the purifier kind of spoils the end for me. Instead of a heroic, noble act, the player's sacrifice becomes a stupid and unnecessary death. Looking forward to getting Broken Steel, so I can end the main quest on a less vexing note.

I've got and completed all of Fallout 3's DLC, as well as the main game in a full 100%, yet even with knowing the ending it was hard hitting. I'm strongly tempted to begin a new game and role play my way through it, see how I fare.

I like when a game can be emotionally involving, so few games do that.

Yeah, there's some pretty emotional stories in the wastes... both positive and negative. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1073736-things-that-break-your-heart-in-fo3/page__hl__broke%20your%20heart from a couple of weeks ago that's back a few pages.

I've heard rumors that the writing in F1 and F2 are really good, too. I'm thinking I might try 'em, if I can get past the gameplay... is it true?

Yeah, but as a player of both Fallout 1 and 2, I just can't go back to that gameplay.

Never had it, never will. I may play a despicable character sometimes, but there are a few things I won't do. High on the list is selling a defenseless 6-year-old to a piece of raw sewage-soaked dog vomit like Eulogy Jones.
