Getting the right sound

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:16 am

I've been playing with adding some cutscenes to my mod and testing BINK in game - Im finding I can get the videos to run smoothly outside of the game with no stutter but in the game there is a bit of stutter - possibly i still need to play with my compression settings - however the biggest problem is mixing the sound - I've used the sample rates as outlined in the MWSFD for wav and mp3 but am still getting some stutter - have been experimenting with both music and sound effects like heartbeats - both get munched in game - so far i've been mixing in the audio after the conversion to BINK as i read it can struggle with converting both video and audio at once.

Has anyone any suggestions on sample rates - obviously Bethesda managed to get it right.

Can you open one of their BINK videos in whatever editor you're using and anolyze their settings?

Good old reverse engineering - have anolysed the bloodmoon files and see they are using 44100 16 bit stereo - yet when I tried stereo it struggled horribly - my vid seems to be having higher frame dat than the Beth so I'll have a closer look at what's going on in the movie compression prior to binking it
