Getting what you wanted

Has any one here ever wanted something more than any thing, and then finally getting it to realize its not what you really wanted?

Is it just because the act of wanting or lust that drives people and having nothing to drive for makes you feel empty once you've got it?

Yeah, a lot. I'd say so much that it may be one of my biggest vices.

This girl I know is like that. Always buys things on impulse then regret's it later. She blames it on being shortsighted.

What I really want is a family of my own (wife and kids)----sadly I know fate will never let that happen <_<.

Yeah, my second house. Bigger, detached, posher street, of course it was better. Except my old neighbours were nicer, and my old job that paid enough to afford my old house didn't require me to spend three hours a day commuting into and out of London. And whereas my first house had a cheerful, friendly demeanour, the new one was gloomy and miserable. Not the happiest time of my life.

So what did I learn from that experience? Bugger all, really.

My love life is a continual pattern of me doing this, then when I don't do it, they do.

Happens to people, happened to me. After a while, I finally do own a laptop, but it's... not as satisfying and it's now I imagined it to be. And that's one example... there are more.

When I was 10 I wanted this http://www.figurerealm.com/Galleries/starwarspoweroftheforce1995/RancorLuke1.jpg I spent all my money on it, brought it home and played with for an hour and the charm wore off.

Other than a few video games throughout the years, I think I've felt good about most of my purchase decisions/acquisitions.
