How can someone seriously like GFWL???!?!!111

This is the biggest Malware that infected games ever. I am not completly against these kind of platforms. I recently came to peace with steam because it can (not always) add to the game. But GFWL??!?? Seriously? I am a big fan of fallout/tes, but if any game forces you to install GFWL, like new vegas, i will not buy this game. GFWL needs to be destroyed. I am dissapointed of my anti-virus, which did not warn me about this dangerous Malware.

@TE: Have you played games without GFWL? What did you miss?... You realise that the main purpose of this platform is to lock you in? why are so many people like http://funrecycler.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/lemming.png guys??

1. are you to judge what people like

no, i am wondering why anyone likes this software, which has nothing realy to add for players
2. Microsoft isn't going to put malware on peoples computers

unwanted software = malware, as per definition
that was a not so serious comment, but still, the software is unwanted and unused but i cannot uninstall it, if i want to continue playing some games. That is enough malware for me
3. New Vegas isn't on GFWL it's on steamworks, DURP HURP!

sorry my mistake, everything is fine with new vegas. meant the horrible gfwl in fallout 3, which was optional fortunatly

Your first comment; isn't that the same thing you're doing by telling people to like gfwl no matter what their personal experiences with it are? To the point you're suggesting that if they had any issues with it that they should upgrade their computer, instead of considering it could have been a gfwl problem?

Considering the legal problems, no, Microsoft wouldn't intentionally put malware on people's computers. Put non-functional programs that interfere with other things, possibly.

Personal opinion about gfwl, personal opinion about steam.

Looking at GFWL prices - very expensive for mostly old games. I don't see it as a viable alternative. Dawn of War 2 used it and stated they will not use it again.

Death to GWFL.
Burn/hang/dismember anyone who suggests its any good.
Steam is ok, as it actually provides usefull services, but for all those poor people not having unlimmited bandwith, there should be a disc version.

that's the steam shop, I don't have anything against that.

it's steamworks, that is what will go into TES5 if it goes with it

Choosing between GFWL and Steam is like asking me if I want AIDS or Cancer. I'd rather have neither.

What I don't understand about Steamworks is how is it "Saving PC gaming" if it forces a third of fan/user base of a game who would have bought the PC version to either go console or forgo the game altogether?

Yeah, I don't buy games that are Steam only, so how is it "saving PC gaming"? I don't like Steam, I don't like Valve products (just a bunch of FPSes, zzzzzzzzzz), why should I be forced to install middleware?

BURN IT WITH FIRE!!!

that is not enough. i cannot explain how much hatred i have for gfwl, because that would ban me from these forums. also I wish there would be no steam, but it would be by far, far, far, far, far the lesser evil. Imagine! some games need gfwl and steam :/ ... how much crab is going on with developers these day... if that was their decision

Neither GFWL or Steamworks would be preferable, at least GFWL is less intrusive and can be ignored. Sell it through the Steam store by all means, just don't make it a highly irritating requirement.

indeed, Beth needs to realize that there is a viable PC market outside of the Steam & LIVE communities

For the retail disk version of Skyrim, I will only tolerate a disk check and possibly an offline keycode for DRM. I really don't care what they do regarding digital distribution, since I always buy the retail box when it's available. If they insist upon Steam, online authentication, GFWL, or any other internet-dependent DRM, I'll be passing on this game.

I am wondering if Skyrim will be on Games for Windows LIVE (also know as LIVE), I think it worked really well on fallout 3 and since you can still sell gfwl titles on steam I don't see an issue with it.

however there has been no word so I don't know if they will or not.

noooooooo!

GFWL messed up my Chaos rising and THAT was anoying

steam digital copy>physical copy

1: physical copy breaks your toast steam copy is for as long as steam exists and Gabe has stated if steam were to defunct he would release DRM controls and the court would probably make him as well. Don't worry there is always consumer rights activists ALSO ZOGm the pc is an open platform therefore you can buy from impulse, desura, gog and then if the games have steamworks OH WELL it's a good drm b/c is not obtrusive unless you have like 2gb's of ram.

2: o no digital sales IM FORCED TO BUY A GAME for $15 instead of $60 woh to us all.

3: o noez it has friends lists, voip, crossgame chat O NOEZX.

4: wtf is this i can buy ALL OF BETHESDA'S games for the low price of $70's instead of paying over 150 for them all OH NOEZ.

5: o my internetz is down good thing theres offline mode.

As for half life 2 being mediocre; the internets would disagree, TF2 it's more of a "fun" not to competative shoot em up same with CS:S, and alien swarm and how can you qq about that, it's free. Not to mention all the EVIL FREE CONTENT they've released O and damn them for releasing the SDK so source is one of the most used engines by modders and indie devs oh so evil......seriously bro

Say all you think is great about it but you do not own a steam game, and it is a pain in the azz to use. It forces worthless updates on you all the time, makes your games load 10 times longer then they would, anyway id go for GFWL over steam.
