GHD Transformations

Post » Sat Dec 18, 2010 12:17 am

Hey, are there any known fixes for the glitched animations during the different transformation stages in the Great House Dagoth mod? I've been playing for a while now and tried to put it out of my mind and just focus on the quests and story, but not being able to strafe is very annoying during combat. If there isn't a fix out for this, could it actually be fixed?

Thanks,

To my knowledge there is no fix for that. Yes, it can be tedious if you're used to circling around your enemy during combat. All one can do is just try to work through it until you reach the end of the transformation stages.

Thanks for the reply Forest Stalker. I guess I'll just have to ignore it. After all, it's still a great mod, though it is a shame this problem was never fixed.

So, mega bump (and a double post, utter rebel) because I'm seriously dying to know if there's a way to get the animations working properly. Surely there's a way of fixing it? If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be more than willing to give fixing it a go myself. But at the moment, I haven't a clue how to go about it. Ah, it just feels kinda cheap walking around in my human form all the time because being a dagoth glitches out too much for anything other than a screenshot.

help pretty pwease? :(

I don't think those creatures actually have strafe animations... soooooo, you might be out of luck here I think.

Hmm. Have you played the mod? The strafe issue aside for a moment, animations in general just seem messed up. For example, even in your Dagoth form, you use the player animation for casting spells. Say if you use the shield spell, the 'egg effect' still only conforms to the original characters model. And when walking you do three steps and then 'glide', both if going forward or backward.

Yeah, I've played it, it makes the player invisible and synchs a creature on top of the player IIRC. That kind of stuff can't really be avoided, I don't think, but I'm no scripter, just answering about the strafing.

Precisely. The player is made invisible and an activator is synced to the player's position. Motion/attack detection determines which of the animation sequences to force the activator to play, but I don't think there is any really good method for detecting a strafe to force that sequence (even if they did exist). I created a script for my mod that is modeled after Cortex's transformation and though it is not as elegant as his solution, the same fault is present, so if anyone figures out a magical solution to this I'd love to hear it =).

What about other transformation mods that do have such limitations? ex: the Illuminated Order.

Lost, I am actually quite interested in fixing this myself, and have planned on it for quite some time.

If the Illuminated Order is like the Lichcraft mod, then it would force-equip armor onto the player, keeping the player's animations. This doesn't really work with other transformations because the animations are different.
