I wonder if anyone has noticed the changes I've made to the site? I have built some pretty neat things IMO. :hehe:

Often when I'm at work I can work on the website side of this, so I've been doing that this past week. I've got a couple of days off now, so I'm going to focus on the mod side now. Expect an updated file within the next few days.

New search functions?
Spotlight character?
Site stats, er, records?
:goodjob:

The spotlight character dosn't seem to show up while viewing character pages.

Great additions, Fligg!

Most of those additions only work on the front page right now.

BTW, Marbred, I'm also putting a testing mod so that we can get down to the bottom of why your stats aren't being recorded. I hope to have it ready sometime today.

I guess I'll have to re-install MW then. I uninstalled it to make room for Obliv.

...which doesn't even work anymore? ;)

Anyhow, here's a thread about this test file. I'd like to have as any people run this test as possible. Marbred's isn't the only character who isn't getting all stats uploaded.

Now, on to other matters. I need input on the leader board. What should define a leader? Level is too easy to increase, though it is a way to define the progress of a character. Should it simply be number of quests completed? I personally don't care for that idea since it essentially forces a person to follow structured play.

I actually would like to have a sort of amalgamated combined score. I think that we ought to work out an equation that takes things like level, skill, faction ranks, attributes, reputation, health/magicka/fatigue, etc all into account to determine a single score.

Thoughts?

It will work! It will, I tell ya!

Yeah, my first thought was a combined score from many stats.
The trick would be to make it so that, for example, having more health than magic would not mean a greater chance of being on top of the list.

Anyone else have some input on this?

Oh, and an FYI: uploading won't work right now. I've updated the post script online and you would need the modified mod which won't be available until tomorrow.

I don't really see any reason to have a leader board, as MW isn't a competitive game to begin with.
But, an amalgamated score of all attributes/reputation/badges would work best, as it would require the most work for the player.

I've neglected to try this so far -- when the new version becomes available I'll definitely give this a shot and let you know if my character uploads properly.

The new file package is available now. All that has been, and will be for a while, modified is the esp. I don't believe the uploader will be further updated until the final grand unveiling.

The only major changes in this are fixes for the reputation and bounty. There were a number of other changes put into the esp, but I haven't yet updated the site to reflect them. I'll work on that this weekend.

I've done a lot of work on the site appearance. I've properly structured everything and have fairly well completed the overall look of the site. I'd really like to get some feedback on how it's looking.

Now that the site is beginning to look how it will when we unveil it, I will start posting some screenshots within the next few days.

The structure is looking good, and I love that new background. (although it doesn't show upon every page right now)
You misspelled "Character" in the Character Class search window.

No, the word character is always spelled that way when referring to classes. That's one of those obscure English rules like "u before e except after q." :P

The background and the header won't show up on all pages yet, and none of that will show up on any theme other than Morrowtheme for the time being.

Thanks for looking at it. :goodjob:

The background looks great!
And I can still see the class and town names on it even on my old monitor!
I suggest keeping the current background thats on the mod lists page. The "census" background might make it too cluttered.

Did you add random default moods and current activities? If you did, good job!

I was thinking... what if the spotlight character stayed the same for a 24 hour period? Still keep it random, but then people could comment and share thoughts on the same spotlighted character if they wanted to.

The stats locations are a big improvement. I'd still prefer 3 rows in the warrior/thief/mage set up... but that's just me.

lookin' good, lookin' good!

I like the background, though I need to spend some more time on it. I slapped it together with the help of Google Image and the header you sent me ages ago. I was working on it at work, so I had to make due with Gimp portable instead of my trusty ol'Photoshop 7. :s Need to do some more detail work with it.

There is a default mood and activity, but it's not random. There is only one for each. I do intend to implement random entries for each one at some point though.

I do like the idea of the spotlight character being static. I could easily make it so that everybody is only spotlighted once until all are done. I'll ponder it a bit.

And that does remind me that I want to implement a comment system. Think I better build the admin functions first though...that could get messy.

I'm not doing anything with the stats location yet until I determine how to implement major/minor skills. :shrug:

Perhaps we could just use the badges as the basis for the leaderboard? Assign each badge a point, then add those to get the total "rating" of a character. Whaddya think of that?

The badges being part of the leader board would be cool, maybe certain badges higher scores?
Could we get some misc badges for basic achievements and maybe salutes to the community?
(Killed Fargoth, Killed Gaenor, Saved Tarheil, Head of houses and factions, Completed Werewolf side of bloodmoon, Got eltonbrand:Goldbrand, Eaten # of ingrediants, Created # Potions:encnated items, Bought the cursed ring) with some names related to the subject but not exact (make us guess how to get them).
If you need more ideas I'm sure I can help.

Great idea. Probably the "fair" way to do it, and less complicated, too.
Also, it's easier to console your stats than it is to console quest and faction settings.

Maybe 1 point for each "basic" badge, and then 5(?) points each for things like the three main quests, 200 reputation, and the 1k badges.

Things like the Sotha Sil Dead should not be worth extra points because if you completed the main quests you already have those badges.

I'd keep the point system hidden, like Gallade664 said, to keep us guessing.

Thank you, I was thinking of small one line riddles as clues to the different badges, or at least the "not-so straight forward" ones

mabye the basic badges like beat main quest, beat tribunial main quest, and beat bloodmoon main quest should be open but the others like killed fargoth should be closed.

The problem with the badge for ranks system is a player that uses exploits or cheats can get all three houses badges and get more points. This will also happen with other choices the player has to make.

IIRC I made a list of all the various badges I intend to create at first around here somewhere. Initially there won't be much as far as many quests or artifacts go, with the exception of the 3 MQs and completing faction quests. For the most part I have been focusing on things that can be tracked regardless of what mods/quests the player is playing.

I do agree about each badge having a different value. I absolutely intend to do that.

Of course now I have to restructure the badge system...I currently have it determine what badges there are when the the view character page is displayed.

I recently uploaded a new character (You can delete the last ones) But his Health, Magicka and Fatigue are all at 0 ( I thought this bug was fixed) and his Items in his Invetory show as nothing when he just looted a bandit cave. Other than that it all seems good. I'm also loving the new layout. I have have a quick question, How do you upload profile pictures? (I already have some images for uploading)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Edit~~
Also my map leads to the wrong place
Did you redownload the mod package in the last few days? The updates I did would cause the errors you are describing if using the wrong version of the mod.
On the main menu there is a link to Upload Images. That is where you can upload images for either your avatars or the image gallery.
