Fligg, have you seen the PM I have sent you? This was prior to this incident. Fast recovery to you. At this current time I have not had any success entering site. WestHost must be having a thorough run through..

I just learned that the fire supression system at WestHost's data center accidently discharged, causing all sorts of havoc. It doesn't sound as though the servers themselves were affected, but rather the local networking. The current ETA is 8:00 PM GMT-7. It has been moved up several times though, so we'll see. It sounds like they have the entire admin staff, as well as the datacenter staff working around the clock (all of them have working for dang near 20 hours straight-through already!) I'm glad that I had surgery rather than going to work tonight.

Actually almost all of my groundbreaking scripting ideas I have had were acquired as I was drifting off or just waking up. And the solutions to the tough problems whilst in the shower.

I hate that. The shower is the only place it's really hard to take notes.

Peachy, thanks for taking charge. Expect a little extra something on your next pay check. :goodjob:

Thanks... Wait, I get paychecks?

Oh, and I'm not too board. Brought my Wii. Not been playing but it's great watching it being played while stoned.

Have fun with that. Remember, if the walls start moving, that's natural. Don't worry. :goodjob:

Epic. Hopefully they'll get it sorted out soon. What sort of fire suppression does a place like that use?

It would have to be chemical smoldering I would say. A nasty mess, no doubt. That is a lot of money sitting there. Any word on investigation tactics, I'm sure the fire marshal will no doubt question the integrity of the server as to insulation and such. Could have been a bad motherboard or a psu.. Not implying anything but potential hazards. A little bit of smoke will set those puppies off in a hurry.

Oh... I don't know... once the glass is really steamy you can write on the droplets

So Flig thanks for offerring to do all the scripting on my mod for me - I guess i shouldn't really take advantage of your hallucinations but okay... now if I could only find the forged pm from you.... oops

Either it is in an odd spot,

That sounds fun. I love it when doctors dig around inside you and look for things. I once sat with a needle in my arm for 2 and a half hours because the doctor refused to pull it out and look for another vein.

It's zero dollars. Which is more than the rest of us get. As every year we all are forced to go to Fliggerty's house for spring cleaning.

I wonder what kind of mods a stoned Fliggerty would produce...

That'd be mighty entertaining. I wouldn't actually do anything, mind. I work better in a supervisorial capacity. :P

Hopefully GHF comes back up soon. I'd hate to have to walk down to wherever the server is and knock heads around to get it fixed.

The server that is hosting GHF was inadvertently sprayed by a not-so-computer-friendly fire suppression system. One of the vendors for the fire suppression system at the data center royally screwed up and has cost WestHost a TON of business.

My friends, our admins, have literally been working around the clock to get things back online. They are camping out at the data center, taking 4 hour nap rotations. Hopefully it will back online within the next day or so. If not, I am going to port everything to my own server...which is slower, but stable.

I've just been sitting here, refreshing and refreshing for days. It only occurred to me now to come to the officials and get the word.
Somehow, having an explanation eases the RSI in my refresh finger.

Hopefully, for WestHost's sake as well as GHF's, the server can get up and going again ASAP.

Your own server? Was that the old server GHF was on?

Awesome. [/sarcasm] I wish I was a lawyer, I'd totally help sue.

What's in your fire system? -.o Hope they get it fixed soon. I'm half surprised they're actually putting that much effort in (whenever I start paying for hosting, I'm tempted to check out WestHost, but I think they're kinda... west of me).

I think we have more posts per day about GHF being down then actual posts per day there when it's up. :obliviongate:

Re-reading that sounds unbelievable :)
it was a one and a half hour appointment and there was a emergency so the doctor had to step out for a few minutes but said it would be best to keep it in there so he doesn't have to redo everything he already did.

Depends if you count the time killers topics. Those probably get 1-30 posts per day.

Any news?
